It's going to be a tough game for Conner to win. They will have to be perfect on defense, stay home make the one on one tackles. It's hard to find the ball so you have to be on your toes, cross read the backs, don't overpursue. If they stay disciplined they have a chance.

No universal terminology in football lol. Belly Keep Pass and belly counter Pass are rough plays to stop. People use the term all the time for everything from waggle and sprint out to where the QB is reading a 2nd or 3rd level defender to hand off or throw. Coach Yeoman had a RPO pop pass back when he was developing the Houston Veer.

 

I didn't know his father coached nor did I know he coached the wing-t. For some reason I though he didn't pick up the wing-t until later in his coaching career.

When Jim McKee first came to Scott Co., his uncle traveled from Atlanta to help him with the wing-T. Couple of wrinkles from the old days (I remember) was they always left the DE unblocked in the odd front. QB read the DE and kept or pitched based on his reaction; if DE took the pitch man, then QB kept the ball and then looked for the 2nd defender to read-option. Often saw original pitchman get the ball 10-15 yards upfield from QB. 2nd memory is the inside mis-direction play to the wing back led by the pulling offside guard. Saw lots of teams get whipped by reading and trying to react too slowly to superior athlete's action. We tried to eliminate paralysis damage by always having the DE force the pitch option and our NG always crashing through the vacated pulling guard's gap. Harrison Co. was very formidable in the late 60s thru 70s under Coach McKee.

The problem with cross keying their backs is it makes you late to Belly. They don't always two step or flat motion on Belly. Pretty much everything they do is to protect Belly. Their QB is very underrated because he isn't throwing the ball a ton. The kid can throw and run.

Yes, but I'll take my chances rallying to the ball on the inside rather than giving them the edges. It's a tough offense to defend no doubt. Especially when it's run so well, which SC does.

Yes, defensively Conner is far superior to Cov Cath. They also have a big running back that is hard to take down.

That game vs Cooper was an ice skating rink. On a dry/turf field I think Cooper beats Conner.
