According to Snopes, it was first published by the Boston Tribune, which is a fake news site, five days ago. Apparently it took just a matter of days for it to start making its way across Twitter. Things like this, enough people see them, it gets retweeded again and again. Eventually some other site that tries to repost news, but that doesn't bother with checking up on sources, publishes their own story, assuming it's true. After that, we're off to the races.
October 24, 20169 yr Well, I don't have twitter, but I understand what you're saying. My basic question is this. Does one have to go out and purposely look for these stories (scary enough), or do the stories come looking for you (even scarier)?
October 24, 20169 yr Thank goodness for snopes.com. I wish more people would follow one simple rule - don't pass on anything you read on the internet until you have checked it on snopes.com. It would stop a lot of the dumbifying of America.
