You are entitled to your opinion and it is obviously different than mine. What you should not do is assume that my response is not a serious one.

You obviously disagree, but I strongly believe that some presidents left (or will leave) the country in worse shape than when they took the oath of office. Jimmy Carter is one of those presidents and Barack Obama is another one.

Based on this you could probably add "W" to that list, wouldn't you say?

That's fine and I understand what you are saying...my point is that no recent President has been a complete failure. If he had been our economy would have completely collapsed, liberties would be gone, inflation would be 300%, there would be food lines and rolling blackouts of electricity across the country...that would be a failure that deserves a 0-1-2 rating.

each President makes thousands of decisions that we never know about that impact us in ways we will never know about. If any President was a complete failure we would feel much more than anything we have felt as Americans.

Look at some of the failed countries around the world and how their citizens are living, no President has failed us like that.

But Reagan sent arms to Iran for their influence on the Hostage holders in Lebanon.
I never said that Reagan was perfect, but his accomplishments far outweighed his mistakes. Millions of people live in freedom today because of Reagan's strong foreign policy. Many on Reagan's own staff did not share his opinion that the USSR economy would collapse under the weight of an arms race with the U.S.

I also think Reagan made a mistake when he pulled the Marines out of Lebanon following a bombing of their barracks. IMO, George Washington is the only "10" who has ever served as U.S. President.

Based on this you could probably add "W" to that list, wouldn't you say?

I dont think he needs any help with his ratings do you @Dino Nova ? This is opinion. He stated his. State yours would be a good start.

All U.S. presidents in modern history have taken the reins of the highest office in the most wealthy and powerful country in the world. Your definition of what would constitute a zero is highly subjective. A president who failed to the extent you described would most likely be impeached, convicted, and removed from office before doing so much damage to the country.

IMO, a zero or a one should be defined as the worst president in history, with a 10 reserved for the best president in history. Maybe Obama deserves a one and Carter a two, but on my scale a 5 is average. When interest on the national debt becomes this nation's largest expenditure in a few years, which will happen, if we are still a free country, historians will lay much of the blame at Barack Obama's feet. When popular programs are eliminated and poverty spreads far and wide, very few people will look back on the Obama years nostalgically. Hunger does that to public opinion.

I debated whether George W. Bush deserves a "5." As the second largest contributor to the national debt, that may be a little bit too generous. He does deserve some credit for his response to the 9/11 attacks, but someday, fans of Bush and Obama are going to be very hard to find as the national debt's impact on our quality of life becomes obvious to all Americans.

John Kennedy 9

Lyndon Johnson 7

Richard Nixon 5

Gerald Ford 4.5

Jimmy Carter 5

Ronald Reagan 6

George H. W. Bush 5

Bill Clinton 8

George Bush 4

Barack Obama 6.5

BBF put your list up, I'm really interested in your thoughts on this.

Some of these guys I like, some I don't, so It would be difficult for me to give a fair unbiased assessment.

There was nothing to "own up to." I gave an opinion and explained my rationale. I don't believe presidents deserve participation points for simply showing up for work and I also do not believe that the worth of a president can be measured by contemporary polls. The decisions our presidents make have long term consequences.

Where is your list?

Defending your own choices is always more difficult than criticizing somebody else's.

So, give a biased one...everyone else seems to be :lol2:

On a scale of 0-10 how would you rate your level of bias with 0 being no biases, and 10 being extremely biased?
