The man is a genius at the weights.

This is the understatement of the year. Clyde Burchette may be the best strength coach in the history of Kentucky High School football. That isn't an exageration either.

Talked to him tonight, still looks like he works out some..

1 thing no one has mentioned is that corbin was without there top back from last year Blake Freeman, good hands as well as best runner on the team.

Blake is done for the season with a torn acl.

that hurt the hounds .

he was injured in pratice on thurs i think.

Indeed ...that does hurt! Wish Blake the best!:ylsuper:

I'm not bashing them. They are way down from last year in my opinion.

Now the behavior of their student section..........that is something I could bash, but I won't. If the South administration and parents won't do anything about it, I guess that it is to be expected.

They were better than Corbin.............but I don't think that they will be able beat many 4A teams with their run defense.

Who should they beat that is left on the schedule? I was guessing Montgomery and maybe North.

Let's not go there. I distinctly remember the behavior of the Corbin student section when they were in our house last year. I believe the words they spelled out on their shirts -- large enough to be clearly seen on the opposite side of the stadium - - read "Cards Suck". Yes, that was pure class on the part of your student section. I sat up above South's students last night and honestly could not hear them above the general roar of South fans. Were you sitting on our side of the field or something?

yada, yada, yada.........let's not get into respect and sportsmanship, something that South obviously knows nothing about this year. Has your internet connection been down slugo?

No, connection is fine - just have to post when the Hound nation has illusions of grandeur.

2003 30-28 (SL got lucky)

2004 41-28 (Corbin was w/o key players and SL got lucky)

2005 26-6 (Corbin was young and SL got lucky)

2006 21-20 (see 2004 excuses)

2007 Prediction - Corbin doesn't renew contract.

4 in a row, baby!!!!!

Corbin just isn't the Corbin they once were. The receivers continually looking for the hit rather than concentrating on making the catch. Cashen made some nice throws that were dropped but other times simply threw terrible passes. Corbin is just soft. They looked soft against Oldham and again against South. The toughness of the Corbin of old seems to be gone.

That is the truth. I will admit that the OL gave him much more time tonight than the past two weeks. If they can build on that with the seemingly solid ground game, we may be onto something. However, the recievers need to step it up. If they want it and show confidence, Clint will get them the ball. They just have to keep going towards the ball and cut down on the mental mistakes. For example, you have to be ready and LOOK for the ball. Many times tonight players were being led but just didn't look for it. The last play of the game was a sure fire TD but hit the reciever in the back and bounced into the DB's arms for the INT that sealed the game. It'll take time but it'll get there. I tip my hat to Jake Reeves for makin a HUGE catch on the final drive. Maybe that will lead to some confidence in him and they can take the next step.

Off the subject, I loved the option call on 4th and 3. Nobody was expecting that one. I also liked the screen to Campbell. Get that boy in the open field and a convoy of Peterbilt's wouldn't budge him.

Amen, Wait till they figure that out.

There is a lot of truth in what you say. They are young, but toughness has more to do with will than with age.

2003 - I agree

2004 - teams were pretty even, SL made more plays.

2005 - SL was better

2006 - Teams were pretty even, SL made the plays and Corbin did not.

Congrats to SL, I admit I was wrong on this one. I thought that Corbin would run all over the SL defense. Also, congrats to Logan Baker, a great kid who has just been waiting for his chance to show what he can do on the field.

Question: Does anyone think that Jewell might be feeling a little heat after this one (along with the last few)?

He will feel some heat from fans but the school board is what he needs to worry about and that's not going to happen and shouldnt. Losing to South 4 years in a row isn't going to make anyone in the hiring/firing family happy but it will take more than that for a fine coach to be canned. I personally think while losing to South 4 years in a row is unexceptable, it's not worthy of calling for a man's job. Coach Jewell's overall record speaks for itself. Sure a lot of the wins come against the weak district but you cannot discredit wins over Henry Clay, Bryan Station, 3 against Bell, 4 against Middlesboro, 2 against South, Conner, 4-1 vs. Laure, Somerset, Rockcastle, and others.

There is no doubt things need to change but I think it is more towards attitudes and will of players out on the field instead of coaches. Players over the past couple years have been a little soft when it comes to that "I want to knock you down and keep knockin you down until you give up" mentality. Make every play count and be felt on every play is how you should play the game. These boys are playing too nice. Having class and good sportsmanship is one thing that these boys have and should have. However, they need to realize that on Friday nights, you are going against enemies for battle, not Sunday School. I'm not saying late hits, cheap shots after plays, and intentionally tryint to injur people. I'm talkin about getting rough in the pile and things like that. If people don't think that goes on 99% of the time then you are mistaken. If you ain't ready to get pinched, clawed, and stuff out of the field and want to have pats on the butt and handshakes, then go play soccer. Football is about aggression albeit controlled agression.
