I've got a better question, what does that tell you about the current state of high school football in Ky. Not hating on Bowling Green but when a team is soo dominant that they blow everyone out of the water, how can be good for Ky football?

This is a rare occurrence. If it happened like this every year then I'd have a better answer. BG is simply in a great spot right now.

Bowling Green is probably the best team in the state, regardless of classification. Can you imagine a Trinity, or Male vs Bowling Green matchup?

It would be a lot of fun to watch.

The simple answer is no, not in 5A. That said, there are still some really solid teams in 5A this season. The Purples just happen to have a very special team this season, one that would certainly be in the top 3 in class 6A. I would suspect that if they all had the opportunity to play, Trinity, Male, and Bowling Green would all pretty much be even this season.

 

As far as if it's bad for Kentucky football, I'd have to say not at the moment. If Bowling Green were to continue to produce teams like this season's year in and year out, then it could have a negative impact on class 5A overall. However if that happened, I would suspect that Bowling Green would petition to move up to class 6A, since they would have a legit top 5 team pretty much every season. Like it or not, there is a big difference between the upper tier in 6A compared to the upper tier in 5A, it just so happens that Bowling Green would be in the upper tier in 6A this season. That doesn't mean that they are bad for Kentucky football at all though, as this season's Purples are a bit of an exception to the rule.

I think it's good for 5A in Kentucky. I also believe what is over looked and under valued is the Job Kevin and his staff are doing at BG. It's not just about being bigger and more athletic. But getting your players top to bottom to buy in to your system. If anything it's going to make the rest of the class step up to their level which can only improve the level of football.

FS struggled with a 5-3 3A Caldwell team.

 

On the flip side, BG manhandled St. X by 21 and has running clocked the #5 and #6 teams in 5A, as well as the #6 team in 4A, as well as EVERYONE else on their schedule.

 

I still think FS should be #1 in 4A right now...and also think BG would running-clock them by halftime.

Bowling green is definitely a power house this year, definitely one of the best teams in the state..it would take an amazing effort for any team to upset them.
