October 10, 20169 yr 6 teams in front of UofL. At least 2 of them have to lose (OSU v. Mich. & Alabama v. TX A&M). Houston loss didn't help UofL. Clemson loss doesn't help UofL. In addition to winning out, obviously, need Washington to lose (@ #21 Utah on 10.29 & final rivalry game @ renewed Wash. St. appear toughest tests) OR winner of the above games to drop a game somewhere else (Conference Championship maybe). Lots of football over the next 2 mos. but some interesting scenarios.

Grant was joking, but that's the only reason. Kind of like UT losing on the road to a Top 10 team and not dropping, and UofL losing on the road to a Top 5 team and dropping four spots.

If UT had been ranked in top 4 like UL was, they would have dropped 4 or 5 spots also. They were already #9 and lost on the road in OT, no one behind them really has a justification to be ahead of them in my opinion. I hate UT, but they are about where they should be. I also think in an eye test the Cards look better than everyone ahead.

I could see this reasoning: -Ole Miss was all over FSU and then lost their mettle in the second half. It was essentially a road game for them, and they hung relatively tough against a team loaded with veterans. -FSU has scarcely looked good at all since, outside of their game at Miami, which was easily their best defensive performance of the year. That win allowed them to jump back up, but Ole Miss was already rated 9 and 7 spots higher in the polls, and no one batted an eye about that last week. Without a loss by Ole Miss, wouldn't that have felt like an incredible jump back for FSU to jump that much higher over an Ole Miss team that has gone 3-1 including a huge win over Georgia (who should've beaten top ten Tennessee) and a very tight loss to #1 Bama? FSU lost to a team a week ago that barely beat Pitt, lost to that same Georgia team that Ole Miss obliterated, and then lost by 31 to Va. Tech the following week. It was, by almost any metric, an incredibly terrible loss. At best, it balances the Miami win out. I don't think it's crazy to think that Ole Miss, on a neutral field, beats FSU. Do I think FSU is better? Yes. Can I see why they might not be rated higher than a team they beat? Also yes.

Same with the Ohio State Michigan game later on. I think at that point it will be a 1v2 matchup. Whichever team loses should still be in the top 4 assuming it is a close game like Clemson/ UofL.

No, they didn't play in Doak, so technically, I'll grant you that, but a REAL neutral field (let's say Texas), I could see Ole Miss winning. They very nearly did in the one they did play at.

October 10, 20169 yr SEC=overrated! They get the benefit of the doubt way more than any other conference. See Arkansas, Georgia, and Ole Miss. ACC and B1G do not get this same luxury.
