Oakland Raiders - Contenders or Pretenders?

I was on record as saying the Bengals would start 1-5 and would still make the playoffs...so I don't think is quite as do or die as others. HOWEVER, I think they are in a much better spot for January with a win than a loss...obviously. Their schedule from 10/23 forward is dramatically easier than their first 6 weeks.

I think that is a fair list. I would have Cincy over KC, but other than that I think its pretty accurate.

QB- I would say even right now, but I would take Prescoot

WR's-AJ, but barely

TE- Witten, not close for cincy

RB-not close for cincy

Offensive line-not close for cincy

Kicker-not close for cincy

Defense Cincy, but they have given up more big plays than any team in NFL this year

It is the NFL so good luck picking the winner's each week of game, we have (11) guys left in the elimination game

Crazy how two people can see things so drastically different....

 

Dalton is much better than Dak.

 

AJ is much better than anything Dallas has at WR with Dez out.

 

Eifert is expected to play. He's better than Witten at this stage of Witten's career.

 

RB is a slight edge to Dallas, but mainly because of the great Oline.

 

Oline, huge Dallas advantage.

 

Defense, the Bengals have a significant advantage.

 

ST - Cincy with Bailey hobbled.

Patriots, Steelers, and Broncos I would say are the leaders in the clubhouse. Is Oakland #4? Other?

 

NE and Denver have to be the top tier. Then Pittsburgh, Cincinnati in the next tier, then Oakland, KC, AFC South Winner.

 

New England and Pittsburgh are the top tier IMO. I put Denver slightly below them. Outside of those three, I see virtually no chance anyone else makes it to the Super Bowl.

 

So, lets say, Oakland manages to sweep Denver (hypothetical) and finishes AFC West Champs, does that then shift gears to Oakland being a favorite along with NE and Pittsburgh?

Defense is still a question but most believe as the season progresses so will that unit. Another problem spot is their backfield. Murray had the lions share of carries in 2015 and was not very good. A year later it's a multi-back rotation, look for Washington to make an impact.
