October 2, 201610 yr Author I think it is still Lamar by himself. Then I have JT Barrett followed by Greg Ward. Outside of those three I don't see anyone else really doing anything special right now.
October 3, 201610 yr Author Jackson is still out front and it's still not close. No it's not even close. But he still has a lot of work to do. He can't let up against these really poor teams he will be playing up until Houston. He needs to dominate them the way he dominated every game so far. If he doesn't I think it opens it up to Deshaun Watson and JT Barrett simply because the Heisman goes to the best player on the best team a lot of the time. Right now it's hard to imagine anyone else taking it, but when he only has one big showcase game left and other big time players have 3 or 4 left. The door is still cracked half open for someone else. I think UofL will beat Houston, but if they don't then the door will be wide open.

The next five games should be complete beat downs, maybe sans Duke. But that is at home, Friday night after the bye week.
October 3, 201610 yr Author He will have 4-5 touchdowns every game the rest of the season. The next five games should be complete beat downs, maybe sans Duke. But that is at home, Friday night after the bye week. You don't know that he will have 4-5 TD's every game. You can't predict what is going to happen. He is a phenomenal athlete, but when you have the slate of lousy opponents ahead of you it could be easy to overlook 1 or 2 of them and not have those gaudy numbers he has put up all season. If they lose to Houston (which I don't think they will) and Ed Oliver who might be the best defensive player in college football as a true freshman has his way with UofLs o line they could contain Jackson. I'm just saying it's so hard to predict what is going to happen the rest of the year. Leonard Fournette was as much the Heisman lock at this point in the season as Jackson is this year and he fell off the face of the earth last year. Now Louisville isn't playing Alabama either, but still anything is possible. Maybe even someone else rising their level of play up to Jacksons during big games late in the season while UofL is playing BC or UK and out of the national spotlight televison wise.
October 3, 201610 yr Vegas has Lamar as the leader followed by Watson, Fournette, McCaffrey, and JT Barrett. I'm not well-versed in gambling but I think you would have to pay $250 today to win $100 for Jackson. On August 30th you would have paid $100 to WIN $5,000.

October 3, 201610 yr Author We'll see. We're going to see. I don't want you to think that I believe he isn't going to win the Heisman. I think he probably will. But I also know better than to count on someone to perform at an insanely high level week in and week out. Everything he has done so far is great, but we're only 5 games into the season. Derrick Henry and Christian McCaffrey weren't on anyones radar at this point in last season. Heisman's are won and lost in November, not September.

Derrick Henry and Christian McCaffrey weren't on anyones radar at this point in last season. Heisman's are won and lost in November, not September. He doesn't have to keep performing at the rate he started the season to win it. His lead is already put him far enough ahead to "allow" for a drop in production and still win it. Say he only accounts for 3 TD's a game the rest of the way. That's 21 more for a total of 49, so let's just round that to 50. Throw in the total yardage that will come along with those touchdowns and wins, who catches him? I get the point you are making. I'm not saying it's a 100% lock he wins it, too early for that. But it's going to take quite a drop off for him not to win. A lot of things would have to go wrong for him, regardless of what other players around the country do.
October 4, 201610 yr 2016 Heisman Watch - Heisman Trophy Candidates - ESPN This is interesting. It took me a minute but I finally figured out the calculation to get the “total” column. LOL
