I would think Coach Walsh would be given a fair shot at it; I always thought he would be the "coach in waiting". I would be willing to bet the next HC, will be a teacher or have a position within the school building.

 

I've heard rumors on our end of town that LeFors from CAL would be in the mix. That doesn't seem likely to me because he has no ties.

Obviously, given the past history in all sports, X will try to stay within the family. Sometimes this is good, sometimes not. Based on a conversation I had several years ago with the powers that be, unless there has been a dramatic change of heart, there will not be a national search.

Todd Walsh has certainly earned his stripes, and at least deserves a look. I agree we need someone with coaching experience, and I would prefer head coaching experience. I do believe the HC for football needs to be in the school, as there are so many players to deal with and learn about.

Rumors a few years ago centered around Stephon Lefors. Might be an excellent choice considering his character and success at CAL.

Obviously numbers have not decreased under Wolford. Actually appear to have increased.

18,000 in attendance might be the sign that we need to do something. At its peak 30000 plus.

Would love to see Walsh get the job. Hell of a coach, and was always a favorite when I was there. Was disappointed he didn't get it after Glaser, frankly.

This game definitely needs to be moved up in the season, used to always be the 5th game and this year it was game 7? This has caused the weather to be dicey the last several years & definitely impacting the crowd.

IMO, this has to do more with the weather than the football. If it were 70 degrees and a beautiful night to get your tailgate on, it would have been between 22,000 and 26,000 IMO because of all the casual fans that want to go, but don't really have a vested interest and if it's raining or threatening rain they won't go.

The schools had to lock in a particular weekend to avoid scheduling conflicts with the University of Louisville. They also had to receive permission for this date since it is not in step with the official KHSAA district scheduling rotation.

 

I am afraid one fan base is spoiled by recent success and the other is somewhat indifferent due to their lack of success.

 

Kids may not want to pay $8.00 plus a parking fee or deal with the traffic that is ALWAYS outrageous in and around Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. The city still has not figured a way to move people in and out in a timely manner.

A financial question...do the schools split the gate or does it switch off every year? What money does UL get from the game and what goes back to the two high school?

The schools split proceeds from the gate after stadium rental and game expenses are taken out. They alternate who does the "leg work" of running the game based on who's the "home" team. I believe UofL gets all parking fees and of course whatever their cut of the concessions is with Centerpoint.

I was told by one of the board members that Josh Mullin is being talked up as the next coach. There are two problems here: 1: he is a trinity grad and 2: he probably would not take it.

Also, I think Bart may be the best choice overall due to his previous experience.
