Good teams make you make mental errors. Corbin is a good team. Mayfield won't be tested now till the Caldwell County game.

 

The way the Cards are rolling right now, I don't think it will be much of a test.

Your probably right, but I don't think the guy who posted that is a mayfield fan. Several people on here like to post crap like that just to stir up trouble. Anyone who follows 2-A football knows mayfield will have their hands full with several 2-A teams this year!

Congrats Mayfield on another quality win.

I will give the Corbin coach the benefit of the doubt on the 2 pt conversion call, especially since he and his staff did a good job coaching those boys. They did not fall apart and go away after a pretty brutal first half beating. That says a lot about their kids and the coaching. They also made some pretty good adjustments in the second half, so again, that's good coaching. I can't say I agree, but I can say give the benefit of the doubt in the face of obvious overall good coaching.

 

This part is that hard balance to strike somehow. On one hand Corbin deserves a lot of credit, but on the other hand, we made a lot of unMayfield-like mistakes. So you want to deal with the mistakes without denigrating the quality of the opponent and their effort. That said, if we fix the mistakes, and get Trajon back, .....watch out.

Had the honor to get to sit with a old college buddy who played halfback on Corbin's last state championship team and also got the honor of sitting with BGP's very own DeSales Dad. 2 gentlemen I hold in the highest regards

LOL!!! I have to say, Diesel, those were my thoughts exactly. Mayfield is undoubtedly the favorite, but several schools are taking their schedules and other items off of their bulletin boards and pinning that quote up there!

My two cents on the game....Mayfield was dominant in the first half WITHOUT Bright. They did seem to take their foot off the gas in the second half. Regarding the 2-point conversion, keep in mind that the game was at Lindsey Wilson, and the college uprights are more narrow than high school uprights. Perhaps they didn't see the kick as "automatic." Overall, it was a great game to watch as a high school football fan.

Good point and he had missed or had blocked at least 1, maybe 2

 

 

For whatever reason that I am unsure of, I never really got to worried, had they made the 2 point conversion and we had gone 3 and out I would have but with the amount of time left I felt like we were going to be fine and would have answered. We did drive down the field to run out the clock to end it deep in Corbin territory.

I agree with TP's assessment that Mayfield was working down the field, but with those same narrow goalposts and with an untested kicker, I sure didn't want that game to come down to an end of game field goal attempt.
