Steve Kerr: Americans should be "disgusted" by what's happening in this country

Featured Replies

Well, Kerr and I have something in common...I've been disgusted with the way this country is going and what's been happening, for a LONG time.

Welcome to the club, so have I. Has anything posted in this thread encouraged you to love it or leave it?

I have a feeling what we think is wrong and what Kerr means might not be all the same things.

One thing for certain, you and I both want what is best for our families and country. I love my country and would never leave it, that would be against all that I have taught my family and all the young people I worked with as a volunteer.

Are you saying others who disagree with you, or have different issues of concern or priority don't? I'm trying to clarify, because when reading it, that's the tone I get. But looking to you to explain further, if you don't mind.

I want what is best for my family and my country as well. I love my country but I do hope to leave one day for a Caribbean island. It's always been a dream of mine to live on a Caribbean island and has nothing to do with any feelings of disgust about the USA because I don't have any feelings of disgust for my country. If that dream never comes true then I'll move to Florida or South Carolina. I will live by the ocean for sure!!

I will gladly explain to you except I do not know what you don't understand. I love my country and family and why would I leave the best country in the world? May not be perfect but it is the best. And I am willing to work to make it better. I've always believed you can always make the best better. How did you read that post get that I want to denigrate the values or priorities of others? It is printed word, my "tone" is pride and respect for my country. The conversation with BigVMan 23 was a congenial discourse with no overt tone by words, I cannot know what you apparently "read between the lines".

I fail to see what it is in my post that you do not understand. I will try to clarify but your first question does not seem to have continuity? My post of printed words have no tone or adversarial words or conflicting meaning. Maybe you were reading between the lines something not said? I love my country and I am proud of it and respect the values reflected in any museum we have traveled to on what our sons called Mom and Dad's history vacations. Our country is not perfect but it is the best country in the world. And I'm willing to work to make the best better. And I would never consider anywhere else home. Too many relatives, I have stated before I have a military family, have fought and suffered or gave the ultimate sacrifice for me to have this freedom. So I hope this helps? Sorry, I typed this twice because I thought my system dropped the post.

I don't know why you quoted my post because we want the same things. To live our lives, build a business on our own and raise and educate our family with the values and religious beliefs of our choice. And enjoy the bounty and freedom this country has helped us to achieve. What in my post did you connect to that made you post that you were not disgusted with living in this wonderful, one of a kind country? Why would I think you are disgusted with our country? My post says nothing remotely like that. And Papaw always wants to move to the coast in retirement also. Don't think I want to.

Because in BigV's post that you quoted he seemed to imply that he disagrees with Steve Kerr and that what he feels is wrong with America isn't the same as what Steve Kerr sees. You then quoted BigV saying that you two want what is right for America. When taken at face value it seems like you are saying that what Steve Kerr is what is disgusted with is what is wrong with America. I agree with Steve Kerr and Gregg Popovich but I love my country and always will and I wanted to make sure that you and everyone else knew that while we may fundamentally disagree on the rights and wrongs of America I love my country just as much as anyone else. Sometimes these conversations take turns that makes folks such as myself feel as though we don't love our country or that we are anti-police or anti-military because of our opinions. I wanted to make sure folks know I love my country just as much as you and BigV do not am I anti-police or anti-military.

We do fundamentally agree to disagree on certain topics, however I did not post or say anything to make you feel that I thought you did not love your country. I'm sorry you felt that way. I'm quite sure no one on BGP thinks you do not love your country.

I quoted your post for the same reasons as PP2. As the conversation was going organically with BigV, it seemed that you were saying you and he had the best interests of the country at heart and others didn't. The beauty of the written word is what power words hold. So, while you may fail to see where your words were misunderstood, I'm sure if you step back and look at the whole, you'll understand the confusion. You seem to be a person who just puts out there what is in your mind, so I wanted to get clarification that you had no deeper meaning. Glad that your words were simply what they were.

It's all good. I just wanted to make sure my love for the country was included with yours.

No misunderstanding of your post. You point was crystal clear.

If you don't mind, get me a house near the ocean as well :D
