Trinity Schedule

Featured Replies

I agree with you that you don't need to try to go out and schedule the USA today Top 10. My point is that you can in the future schedule a few other good teams from around the region. You could play some decent in state schools too. Highlands, Covcath, Hopkinsville, Bowling Green, maybe a top Lexington team, southern Indiana, or a southern Ohio school. Again, no need to load the schedule with 7 heavyweights, but you don't want the schedule loaded with ducks either. I think Trinity will most likely have a challenging schedule next year without making it murderers row.

No disrespect to any of the schools you posted, but those are the same schools I thought we should work into the schedule. All fine teams, but winnable games for the Rocks most years I would think. I guess we are in agreement. I hear we have a series working with Butler starting next year. I think the Rocks will try to schedule at least one with an Ohio power as well.

I see nothing wrong with Trinity's schedule. A non-district diet of St. Xavier, Manual and Montgomery Bell is as good as anyone's top three elective opponents.

I would like to see a schedule that has three district games, x, MBA, another out of state game, and four "local" games. If we can't get four good games out of Jefferson County (Manual, Male, Butler, PRP and I'm sure some others), then some other games from around the state (Cov Cath, Highlands, Lex Cath, Boyle Co and I'm sure a lot of others). For the local games, I'd include a VERY stiff penalty clause for anyone backing out of the JV or Freshman games at the last minute.

I lilke the fact that Trinity and X have their rivalry and Trinity also scheduled a good team from Tennessee, but what about the rest of that schedule? Why not get a couple teams from the Cincy area? That schedule is not what I would want for my team to prepare for the 4a playoffs. I know this is the defending champion and a great program, but I think the schedule could be a lot more challenging. I'm not looking to fire up all the Trinity crowd, but looking for some opinions of Trinity fans.

No excuses whatsoever.....we currently are in an 8 team district....we play ten games....MBA, Manual, and St. Xavier can not be argued with as tough opponments, that leaves us 7 games to play, we have 7 teams that we have to play in our district, with that we have ZERO choices left.

2007 will be different entirely...we will have 3 district games, plus MBA, Manual and X...I would look for four very tough games.

If that were to be included I wouldn't look to have those games then, our frosh have been boycotted by all JCPS not named Manual.

The only "hold" we have over the public schools is a big payday. If they won't play the JV and freshman games, I wouldn't let them have the payday.

^ right...but is we are having difficulty scheduling games, guess what? We'll settle, bet on that.

So the Manual-Trinity series is for sure extended?

^ No...but I heard that both parties are trying to ensure that it does.

Good!:D

We make the best of it with what we have. :thumb:

Happy to hear that!

I am going to assume that the MBA series will continue as both schools seem to really enjoy it. :thumb:

I'd like to see some sort of bowl game/event in which Trinity and one or two other Louisville Catholic schools have games against Catholic schools from elsewhere in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana. A fun, all-day event that builds more cooperation among Catholic schools. That one game per year against a top team is enough for me. I'd like to keep the rest of the schedule in the state as much as possible.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe Trinity and St. Xavier playing two big-time foes from either Indiana or Ohio, with the games being played at Papa John's. Seems like it would be a big draw.

The truth of the matter is that these two would draw no matter the opponent. I would question playing host and sending money back across the border when a double header featuring a couple of top Kentucky teams would be just as good and help build Kentucky high school football. I'm sure there is no shortage of fans that would like to see their team get a crack at Trinity or X in a season opener.

I agree. I was actually responding to an earlier post about playing Catholic schools from across the state line. I think a bowl like this would be really good, with Trinity and St. Xavier playing the likes of Warren Central, Bowling Green, Boyle, Lexington Catholic, Highlands, Covington Catholic, etc.

Basically, whoever is expecting a really solid club for the next couple seasons.
