Cantrall only takes into account in-state games

Trinity has played two TN teams so they do not qualify for ranking yet since they have only played one game in the CPU's eyes

50 million consecutive seasons of people STILL not understanding this!

We understand. And we think it's stupid.

I think YOU understand. I'm almost positive a sizable number of people on here do not! :lol2:

Now as for it being stupid, you can disagree with the method or the results, but the process of using at least a certain number of in-state games has been there forever.

Let me preface this by saying that I take minimal stock in any CPU rating that doesn't have some human input into it. I take EVEN LESS stock in a CPU rating without human input this early in the year.

With that said, the Cantrall and Lit Ratings should be used for nothing more than entertainment value until about Week 8 or 9.Yet for people to get upset and think they are "stupid" changes nothing. It is a COMPUTER spitting out the results of formulas and nothing more. It's not deciding the playoff brackets, people are note betting money on a point spread from it (at least we hope not), and the ratings are not determining who wins or loses any games. Old man Litkenhouse has been in his grave for decades, but I swear some people still think he is the one ranking teams by hand. HAHA

Just take it for what it is... an incomplete set of data designed to tighten itself up the more games are played.

Now with that said, I do grimace anytime I see the LHL or CJ reference their ranking in their write up. As bad as the AP Poll (and boy is it terrible) is I would even trust it more than those two CPU polls prior to about Week 5 or 6.
