I guess that means all of NKY is really bad no matter what class seeing how most 6A would beat just about every other team in NKY.

I would say that there's some semblance of truth in that as well. You have the very good (3 maybe 4 teams) and the rest and the drop off is immense.

I actually have to defend SK's schedule a little. Four of their games they have to play, between two in their district (Campbell County and Boone County) and Kenton County's rule that all of their schools must play (adding Dixie and Scott). Out of the six games they have free they scheduled four teams that were expected to be good back in 2014 when they were planning the schedule (Highlands, Station, Ryle, and Cooper).

 

My criticism really only falls on two game choices: CAL and Conner. Neither one were expected to really challenge SK and their schedule already had some soft competition. Not having at least one of the top ten teams in the state (or a strong out-of-state team) is what makes people doubt that SK is as good as advertised.

I guess if you don't live in Jeff Co. you might as well cancel football and head into basketball practice. Heck, maybe these boys should just all switch to golf and give up hopes of ever being as superior as those in looeyville.

That would be a little extreme especially considering the golf teams down that way are monsters! Just like anything else if Nky teams keep swinging (and be ready to take a good shot in the meantime) they will get there. Baby steps and patients.

No need to cancel football, just schedule a great team and prove yourself if you want to be called great. No one is saying that Simon Kenton is bad. Many people are just saying that they are overhyped given that Ryle is the toughest team they play all year.

 

People want proof that a team is as good as advertised.

 

Shrug, like I said I can't fault them for 80% of their schedule. If you would like to defend the two games I criticized then please do so instead of making hyperbolic statements that imply elitism on my part.

Highlands beat SK in golf this year

Ryle seems to rely on Tanner Morgan throwing and SK is deep with talent at CB/Safety and LB. That will be a great game within the game.

 

Need to check Ryle stats there Bandit. I do believe they are rushing the ball more than throwing this year, so far. Ryle is two dimensional for sure this year it appears. But back to the thread.

Until some one knocks off SK in NKY they are king! Personal opinion though they will never make a big time run at the finals until the strength of schedule get better. Ryle beefed theirs up next two years adding Lasalle dropping GRC. Is that a tough game yes, but in order to get better you have to play stronger competition to show the players where they need to improve, also shows the coaches where they need to improve!

There are only 32 teams, somebody has to be top 10.

Lets not forget scheduling games is a two way street. The other school has to want to play you too.

We can dog this program or that program for scheduling etc. Or Lexington is weak, or NKY is weak. Facts are facts. Since 1998 finals, only 11 teams have been there. Trinity 13 times, St X - 6, Male - 5, Scott County - 3, then Tates Creek, Bryan Station, Lafayette, PRP, Dixie, Simon Kenton, and Ryle all once each. Obviously it is the Louisville teams everyone has to try and top year in and year out. No reason why some teams can't step it up. Truth be told, with Simon Kenton's school district being open enrollment I think they have the best chance! If my kid was a stud and I live in Kenton County that's where he is playing no doubt. Boone County schools are growing so fast and furious they have trouble with diluting their talent. You must live in their boundries to attend a certain school.

Makes perfect sense. But remember when people that lived in Kenton County who wanted to give their kids the best chance would move to Beechwood school district or go to Cov Cath? Simon is benefiting from the housing boom in Independence and there doesn't appear to be any chance of being landlocked any time soon so I expect to see SK only improve.

Meade County was in the 6A finals 3 or 4 years ago also.
