Bourbon County could not do anything until Rock's JV team came in. I believe Bourbon County only had around 50 rushing yards and less than 100 total yards of offense on Rock's varsity. The running clock was in effect near the start of the 4th quarter.

Someone can check my math but I believe Rock had nearly 400 yards rushing or more!

Rockcastle has been gradually coming back for the past 3 seasons and may finally be back to the Rock of old. Should be a dogfight in the district this season.

Rockcastle has been gradually coming back for the past 3 seasons and may finally be back to the Rock of old. Should be a dogfight in the district this season.

 

Agreed. Rock was decimated with injuries last season. However, giving those 2nd and 3rd stringers experience covering for the starters injuries has given Rock a very experienced and deep team this season. They nearly pulled off the upset against Wayne County in the playoffs last season if it wasn't for costly mental mistakes. This is a 3 team district fight for sure.

This team is the best one Scott Parkey has had. Rock was plagued with injuries last season. So probably the most talented in nearly a decade. However, Knox and Wayne are REALLY good too. I honestly believe that 3 of the best 4 teams on the lower half of the 4A bracket are from this same district. I believe either Knox, Rock, or Wayne will play for against someone out West for the 4A title and lose.

Lots of multi-year starters.

 

Not a lot of guys with home run ability or top end speed, but a team made to grind you down with a big physical line and a Defense that is consistently tough.

 

That 4A District they are in will be an absolute war and probably will be the most interesting District race in the State to follow. I could easily see a 3 seed make a run to the State Semi-Finals.

Johnson Central is the team to beat in the East and they reaffirmed that position tonight. The playoffs have to come through Paintsville this year and that is a TOUGH place to play.

 

With that said, I think that Region 3 definitely has a puncher's chance and the wins by all three teams tonight solidifies that.

I was at the game and Rock's D is really nice. My only concern from a casual observer is why Rock didn't work on their passing game more with the game going the way it was. Perfect time to do so. They are not Belfry and need to be able to throw at some point. So why not work on it live last night?

1b) Southwestern

3) Rockcastle County

4) Bourbon County
