Is Boyle this down?

Boyle has 10 Seniors and 33 Freshman. I think the short answer is 'YES' Boyle is down. I also think anybody in the know for Boyle believes patience and player development could make this team a tough post-season out.

You better beat up on Boyle this year, because when those young players get game reps, it could get scary again in Boyle County. That freshman and Sophomore class I hear is one of the best to come through in a long time!

You hear right, I've been watching Boyle football since the 1970's and these two classes are absolutely loaded the future looks bright for the young Rebels.

Tiller is a Junior. IMO the best QB's on the team are the 2 Freshmen. Just a little too raw for Varsity football right now. Tiller knows the system and knows Pardue's expectations and right now he gives Boyle the best chance to win.

I agree about the QB's and was told by one of the coaches after Jabez that it's not out of the question for Reed Lanter to be playing by seasons end, and IMO Reed is the most talented prospect at QB for Boyle since Brandon Smith.

I didn't think Tiller played bad. The only knock I hear on Lanter is he's slow, and not physically ready for varsity football.

So do you think this Reed Lanter could be better than Josiah Robbins?

It's possible. As was much mentioned earlier it won't be a surprise to see Lanter behind the center at some point this season. Whenever that happens the job will officially be his and he'll have that job until he graduates.

I'm not going to say anything bad about any of the starters but I think we're going to have to have a whole lot more production from the QB position to be successful this season.

Yes because Reed is a QB playing the QB position Josiah was a great athlete playing QB, IMO Josiah would have been a better receiver, and Reed has an intangible that's not purely physical he seems to play his best in pressure situations when the games on the line. That's something you're born with.

Not mentioning any names but one of the coaches told me after Jabez that Reed was the best QB on the team and the only thing holding him back was game experience at the varsity level and it was the same coach that told me it was possible to see Reed as the starter by seasons end.

I agree that Reed is the QB of the future but considering the conditions of the game on Saturday I'm not ready to send Sam to a new position just yet. I don't think we can truly assess QB production fairly until the Danville game.

I had the same conversation with that coach on Saturday. That is why I agreed with your post.

Any chance Boyle starts the season 0-2? I don't know much about Lafayette but I seen their score from last night.

Boyle played better but I have said earlier it would not surprise me if they start 0-4 or 1-3.

I agree completely. They looked better than I expected them to look but these first four games will all be very hard. Very very hard. It should only make them better though.

Fair enough maybe one of us will have changed their mind by the end of the Danville game.
