I just don't think it needs to be a legal issue if a 16 and a 27 year old have consensual sex IF SHE IS NO LONGER THEIR TEACHER. I am a huge critic of the black and white statutory rape laws and contend they have unnecessarily ruined a lot of lives. Lots of facts here that are unknown that will determine how this goes. As you said, if the boys are, in fact, under 16, she's toast already. If they're not, then it may be that her status as a "former substitute" will matter. It may also matter how long it had been since she had taught them. Given how much knowledge of sex 16 year olds have, I won't deny that these laws give me a little pause. This woman could be convicted of a crime for something these two dudes likely were high-fiving each other over. That's tough.

I wasn't trying to dismiss her actions, I agree she needs to control herself. Seems like people are always surprised when these cases come up, when in reality they shouldn't be, IMO.

It happened after the school year was over but she got to know them while she was subbing. That is where the law is different.
