State trooper passed me yesterday on the WKY parkway...

Featured Replies

...and it scared the crap out of me. He was going so fast that the sound he made when he passed me in the left lane was unlike anything I had heard before. He had lights only, no siren so I didn't notice him till he was passing me and I heard what I will describe as almost a "boom" sound, like a big firework went off beside my window, actually shook the car. He was out of my sight in a mere few seconds and I never saw him again. I have been passed before by cop cars going fast, but nothing like this. I was going 70 and I would not be afraid to bet he was going at least twice that, if not faster.

140 MPH?

He was going back to the future.

Were you listening to "White Rabbit" again?

Probably hit that NOS button.

Similar to the one in the MIB car.

140 MPH?

Easy. Had some vehicles pass me soon after this guy, probably going between 85-90, and it's incredible how slow they looked compared to what this trooper was going. As I said, I had NEVER seen one going this fast and the sound it made and my car actually shaking when he passed literally scared me.

Charger, Taurus, Impala or Crown Vic?

New Charger.

140 is very very fast and extremely dangerous. In the most dire of situations I don't see anyway he would be going that fast. Wonder what our resident cops and excops have to say.

Agreed.

My guess would be that he was going to back someone up...every police officer I've ever talked to have said the fastest they have ever driven was to back up or assist another officer that was in trouble.

FWIW if you are driving 70 and get passed by someone driving 95 it seems like they are flying, it's really hard to tell how fast someone else is driving.

New Charger.

Any of them, outside of the Crown Vic, can flat out fly. Chargers and Taurus' both will run right at 150 before the computer restricts them and they handle like a fighter jet compared to the old Crown Vics.

Well, my first thought after my heart went back into my chest was "My God, where is this guy trying to get to so fast"? cause I'm telling you, he was going scary fast. I have been 110 on the highway before. and this guy was going a lot faster than that.

I'm telling you, the sound and the feel of the car as it passed me was something waaay out of the ordinary and just shocking. I KNOW 140 is fast...this cat was going FAST.
