I just got that on my phone. It's a vacant cold storage building near 6th and Main leaking ammonia.

Just heard it on the radio. That's bad stuff.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- MetroSafe and EMA officials say a shelter-in-place has been ordered in downtown Louisville.

It's in the area around the former Grocers Ice and Cold Storage building at 609 E. Main Street.

Authorities say the fire department is working to contain an ammonia leak at the building.

The area for the shelter-in-place has the borders of Market Street, I-65, Witherspoon and Clay Streets.

No injuries have been reported.

Officials say the building is vacant.

I've been watching that structure fall apart for a while now.

Supposed to be at a game right across 65 at Slugger Field tonight. Hopefully they can cap this soon.

The structure is a mess. Owned, I believe, by the Transportation Cabinet. No privately owned building would've been permitted to deteriorate like that without improvement or demolition.

Phrase used by a local reporter is "data gap" on inspections from time the state bought the property as part of the I-65 expansion. Existing reports mention exposed tanks but demonstrate lack of clarity as to whether tanks had been emptied or not.

Just unbelievable.
