I get what took people aback of the last one's accurate. Looks like an old cartoon from the 40s.

Dangit. It shows up on my phone but I guess it doesn't transfer over to the site. Google sambo or minstrel shows and click on images. Plenty of similarities with the bobblehead. The Red Sox did the right thing.

There it is. :lol2:

It's clearly not a good look. I'm glad they realized it before they all got handed out. Not sure how these even get to production. SMH.

Agreed.

I get why the second image was pulled. But it still looks different than the one on the Red Sox twitter shot. Maybe it is just the angle.

I'm not sure it was intentional, but it's not a good design and again I will say the RedSox marketing department should have checked the design and painting before thousands of them were made. David does have a space in his front teeth but not like the cartoonish depiction. May want to reconsider using that company for future bobbleheads.

The Red Sox may have also touched up the photo to make it look less offensive. That's all I can think of. It does look like a different angle also.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the company didn't mean to make this look black face. I believe that's coincidence, no company is going to take a racist shot at someone instead of the money of these deals. And of course it looks cartoonish, its a miniature doll with a bobbling head that's suppossed to be a caricature of someone. It is certainly ugly is sin but not racist.
