Covington Chief's order: Commonwealth's Attorney, staff must have escort inside PD

Featured Replies

COVINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) - Kenton Co. Commonwealth’s Attorney Rob Sanders and his staff are no longer allowed inside the Covington Police Dept. without an escort, according to an order obtained through an open records request.

“Obviously there were some issues with trust and that’s about all that I can say about it,” Chief Carter said. “Members of the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office are allowed in the building. They just have to have an escort while they’re inside the building.”

Angenette Levy: “Do you have confidence in him [sanders]?”

Chief Bryan Carter: “I believe he has the ability to prosecute cases if that’s what you mean by confidence.”

Angenette Levy: “Do you think he should be prosecuting cases?”

Chief Bryan Carter: “I don’t have any comment on that.”

Earlier this week, Local 12 News reported that Rob Sanders filed a police report with Ft. Mitchell police reporting that a county-issued handgun was stolen from his unlocked vehicle in his garage. Sanders filed the report July 12, and said he left his garage door open because he had friends over. Sanders said someone took $10 in change and the Taurus PT-92 9 mm handgun. Ft. Mitchell police Chief Andrew Schierberg said Friday, August 5, the case remains under investigation.

I don't know what's going on but I'm backing Chief Carter! #HHSclassof86 !

Why does Rob Sanders have a county issued handgun? Is that normal? And why isn't he keeping his handgun in a secure location?

I don't understand.

I don't either but Rob Sanders is a jerk so I like it!

Yep.

Is the stolen gun issue somehow related to CPD not letting him in the building?

I have no idea but doubt it. However, the article included it so I included it.

No.

This has been in effect for a while but was just recently dug up and made news.

The Feds have been investigating a lot of folks in and around the Covington area for a while. Not sure Rob Sanders did anything wrong but his name is the one that represents the Common Wealth Attorneys Office.

I heard through the grapevine it has something to do with drugs. I'm thinking this story is going to get real

interesting when the story breaks. Stay tuned.

Now dont on task me who had drugs or whatever because I don't know. I just heard drugs were involved in this story. I think the prosecutor is into some not so up and up stuff.

My concern is any agency issuing Taurus firearms has serious issues anyway.......
