August 3, 201610 yr It's rare that I have more than $20 cash in my wallet. Yeah, I'll at most have a $20 in there for emergencies, and even that is rare. The exception being if we're out of town. I generally use only cash in those instances as it's easier to budget and keep track of.

There are still people that carry some cash around, believe it or not. Even if I only have $100 in cash, I don't want to lose it, and I get one free phone replacement per term on my contract, so $100 would hurt more. Plus the hassle of replacing my license, cancelling my cards, telling my employer I need a new company card, etc. My phone is locked, so while a short term pain, not that big a deal in the long run. In my opinion.

I acknowledged there are rare instances (I estimated at 10%) in which it'd be more costly to lose the wallet. I stand by my assumption that those situations are few and far between though.

In my opinion. In that case I can understand. It would cost me $200 to get a new phone I believe, so it would be cheaper the other way.
August 3, 201610 yr Unless you don't have a debit/credit card, or are out of town, carrying more than $50 in cash (consistently) seems unnecessary.
