July 23, 201610 yr If you had a choice, would you vote for the Vice Presidential candidates over the top of the ticket? Both choices appear to be good ones. Thoughts?
July 23, 201610 yr I recall thinking how much more I liked Lloyd Bensen much better than Dukakis. Kind of the same right now.

July 24, 201610 yr Mr. Pence is not a very swell guy at all. Those who detest gay folks seem to find him rather charming, though.
July 24, 201610 yr If there were any LGBT folks on the fence about Trump (which is highly doubtful), selecting Pence, one of the most vocal anti-LGBT proponents in the political game as his running mate, has immediately sealed his fate with them. His list of groups are growing: No LGBT's - Check No Hispanics - Check No Blacks - Check Very Few Women - Check Donald really puzzles me to the point that it almost seems like running for the Pres has just been a silly game to him all for kicks, and now that he theoretically could actually win, he's trying to do everything that he can to shoot himself in the foot, but in hindsight he's been doing that from the very beginning while he kept rising in the polls. Go figure???
July 24, 201610 yr Mr. Pence is not a very swell guy at all. Those who detest gay folks seem to find him rather charming, though. As has happened with a lot of my old fashioned teachings, the more understanding and open frank discussion that has occurred, the more acceptable a lot of life situations there has become. No one should be made to feel inferior or disgraced, for instance out of wedlock births, members of the LGBT community or even members of low wage earning families. The act of admitting and receiving acceptance in mine or anyone's family and community should be with unconditional love. I do like Pence as a V.P.pick. He's not the top of the ticket and also there are courts to help keep any discrimination from happening. I truly believe he has a good heart and is a good man. If I were voting Democrat Kaine, there are some things about TTP, immigration, abortion and rights of gun owners that I disagree with. So, to let the VP spot help decide your vote carries little weight with me.
July 24, 201610 yr What facts or background information makes you so positive? Think it about it mamaw, do you really think this man, who most on both sides of aisle says is a terrific guy , and who has served as a missionary and is a devout Christian is really sympathetic to radical Islam? That's insane ; and I would say the same if he was a Republican. Btw, I hope you are feeling better. I'm glad you are back posting instead of just giving us all the thumb. I enjoy reading what you have say.

It probably goes without saying that someone with Pence's anti-LGBT discriminatory past being merely one heartbeat away from being in charge of our country doesn't really fly too well with me. The very idea of him being the VP sounds frighteningly like a cultural step backwards, and though he does reflect a thankfully diminishing sector of our society, it still would paint a disturbingly ugly picture that someone of his shallow ignorance could rise this high on the political spectrum. Our country deserves better.

Thank you. :thumb: I have given it some thought and searched out some reading and this Tim has come a long winding way from speaking Spanish in the Honduran country to be VP. I won't say flip-flopped, I personally hate that term. He has moderated so many of his core beliefs to appeal to the more leftist Democratic party. This version has really veered left. I will look forward to his speech.

I truly do believe that Pence has a good heart and people do tend to moderate their views throughout their political lives. He is the VP and Presidential Candidate Trump has stated and proven by his body of work in business, by his hiring practices before there was a law to do it, that he is a supporter of the LGBT community.

With Pence's very recent and current troubling track record I would tend to be skeptical that he'd be that swift in moderating his views so quickly, if at all, and though your response points to The Donald and his support of the LGBT community, the discussion here is about the VP, and my concern was that if Trump were elected president then Pence would be merely "ONE HEARTBEAT AWAY" from being in charge of our country. I didn't state this in "ALL CAPS" the first time around, but I have this time because it was the very important point that I was trying to make. Thankfully the checks and balances of which you speak are in place, but if by chance Pence ended up being our president, I've no doubt considering his past that his influence in power would have him aiming at stifling progress. Mike Pence’s top seven most homophobic moments (out of many) / LGBTQ Nation

Mike Pence’s top seven most homophobic moments (out of many) / LGBTQ Nation He's the VP and I can't see him with that much power. "ONE HEARTBEAT AWAY" does not give me pause while voting for Trump. What does scare me is the fact that Hillary could have the opportunity to appoint possibly 3-4 Supreme Court Justices (that will affect us for the next 30 years) and she can be extreme on her own. And she IS at the top of the ticket. So no Pence would not keep me up at night.
