July 24, 201610 yr He's the VP and I can't see him with that much power. "ONE HEARTBEAT AWAY" does not give me pause while voting for Trump. What does scare me is the fact that Hillary could have the opportunity to appoint possibly 3-4 Supreme Court Justices (that will affect us for the next 30 years) and she can be extreme on her own. And she IS at the top of the ticket. So no Pence would not keep me up at night. I assume that you realize that the VP is only one step a way from the presidency, and in the event of the acting president dying, the VP would take charge of the position. Though as an acting VP he might not have that much power, he inching his way that close to the top position is something that most certainly would give me pause. Regarding Pence's "good heart", I've no doubt that he truly believes in his heart that his stance all along has been in the right place, but that in itself is troubling. A nice suit and haircut does not an honorable man make. Actions speak louder than looks, and time and again because of his far right religious views, he has actively sought to discriminate because he has a very distorted understanding of the very important value of separation of church and state. He consistently has irresponsibly used his political position to push his Christian first agenda which is dramatically short sighted. No one is trying to take away his or anyone else's religious freedoms. Those who fear this have a perplexing notion that denying the inalienable rights and freedoms of others when they conflict with their own religious beliefs is acceptable, and have trouble seeing that the precedent that they are trying to set leans towards the destruction of the foundation of the very freedoms that gives them the right to worship how they see fit to begin with. Religious freedom and religious power are two very different things, but unfortunately there are those who fail to understand this difference. I do not merely stand for gay freedoms, but for human freedoms, including religious freedoms, but those who seek to use their political position in order to forward religious power is something that is blindly damaging to the very core of the freedoms for all. It would dramatically be a disservice to our country to put a man in such a high position who has trouble seeing this, and would represent a stagnation in the progression that this country so terribly needs.

July 24, 201610 yr Thank you. :thumb: I have given it some thought and searched out some reading and this Tim has come a long winding way from speaking Spanish in the Honduran country to be VP. I won't say flip-flopped, I personally hate that term. He has moderated so many of his core beliefs to appeal to the more leftist Democratic party. This version has really veered left. I will look forward to his speech. Tim Kaine was one of the best Governors Virginia has had. He must not be too far to the left to be elected a Senator in the Old Dominion.

Which of the two Governors was more highly thought of (I guess those nebulous :approval ratings" are as good a barometer as anything else) during their tenure?
July 25, 201610 yr If you had a choice, would you vote for the Vice Presidential candidates over the top of the ticket? Both choices appear to be good ones. Thoughts?I wouldn't vote for Bill Weld over Gary Johnson. But he is way better than anything the Democrats or Republicans have rolled out.
