Transgender Woman Arrested for Voyeurism at Target

Featured Replies

I'll try one more time, although I probably shouldn't.

1. Laws are already on the books criminalizing the behavior of sexual assaults, voyeurism, etc. These crimes occur right now in bathrooms of both sexes, and both in the "correct" bathroom and in the "incorrect" bathroom.

2. Thus the only behavior that is likely to be affected by a law preventing a transgender person from using the bathroom, is transgender people using the bathroom. Unless you believe transgender people are the ones committing these crimes, this is a feel good law only, and discriminatory.

3. This law does not make access easier for criminals. Its always been easy to walk or especially sneak in and no law changes that. And the fact that a transgender person has access, does not give any person the right to be in there and commit a crime.

4. No law regarding transgender people will have any effect on the prevention of crimes committed by the same sex using the correct bathroom, which does happen regularly.

Good luck with that.

1. Laws are already on the books criminalizing the ownership of guns by certain people. These crimes occur right now, and affect both law abiding people and criminals.

2. Thus the only behavior that is likely to be affected by a law preventing ownership of certain guns is law abiding people abiding by the ban. Unless you believe law abiding people are the ones committing gun crimes, this is a feel good law only, and discriminatory.

3. Gun control laws do not make access harder for criminals. Its always been easy for a person to get a gun illegally. And the fact that a criminal has access, does not give any person the right to commit a crime with a gun.

4. No law regarding banning any guns will have any effect on the prevention of crimes committed by people illegally buying guns, which does happen regularly.

First, I'm not in the "let's ban guns" crowd. Never have been, and I've said that more than a few times. So bringing the fallacy of gun laws into this conversation, in response to my post (and I know that you didn't specifically quote me, but you formatted your post the same as mine, so I think it's a fair assumption that your post is in response to mine), isn't really relevant. Finally, I'm not really sure what your point is by introducing gun bans to the topic. Are you saying that the transgender laws regarding bathroom use are as silly as banning guns?? Or are you just taking an opportunity to inject your position on gun bans, and thus minimizing the topic being discussed here?

This. Just used your post to illustrate how someone who does not think the feel good laws being passed about restrooms are any more sensible then new gun control laws and used the same logic to show how useless both are.

And I didn't say BANNING guns in my post, I'm talking about the knee jerk ban the scary looking "assault" weapon bans that seem to regularly pop up.

Then we are in agreement and on the same page. I don't think banning any specific guns solves any of the gun problems we have. And banning Transgenders from bathrooms isn't solving or preventing any problem either. Thanks for clarifying:thumb:

BUT, I believe that a person with a penis should use a men's room regardless of how he "identifies" and vice versa, I just believe that the new laws are stupid. I would have HUGE issues (and likely get into trouble myself) if I saw a man going into a restroom with one of my nieces I don't care how muse he "identifies" as female. Maybe in the same chapter but I don't think we're on the same page.

That would be nice, but that doesn't play so well here. Much more important things to get worked up about.

I call Bull...When has anyone on this site not got worked up over pedophiles...find one thread where people weren't worked up over it. Well there is one poster that doesn't get worked up over it...but the other 99.99% of members posting have denounced these types of crimes every time.

The state of Kentucky has a sex offender registry, correct?
