HR Derby

Featured Replies

Thought Duvall showed well for the Reds. His game was clearly not the towering 440+ HR but he gained as much time from hitting those line drives down the LF line that get out in a hurry.

Maybe SportScience will do an analysis of whether you are better off hitting 10 moon shot bombs that take forever to land and getting the extra :30 v. hitting 10 laser beams that get out in a hurry and allow a quick next pitch and not getting the :30. Lord knows they had plenty of time to fill the 1 hour SC this AM since there was absolutely nothing else going on.

Seemed like the best strategy to me was to call TO right after hitting a moon shot since they stop the clock when you call TO. If you could hit 2 440+ and the rest line drives, that would obviously be optimal. (Of course, then you get tired more quickly.)

Noticeable difference in Stanton's bat speed. Watched him his first time up and it was clear the dude is in a different category.

That being said, Frazier was right there with him until got tired at the end and started hitting those warning track shots

I agree with Getslow et al. I really like the timed format.

I'm not sure what they're instructed, but I watched one rather large kid truck stick a young girl. Knocked her clear off her feet. Definitely wasn't intentional but she got rocked.

Saw this too...clean shot, did not lead with his head :ylsuper:

Stanton is simply a machine.

Can you imagine what he would've done at GABP last year? He was suppose to particpate until he got hurt.

Or at Colorado

Did notice there was an MLB umpire out on the warning track signalling HR v. no HR based on where the ball would have landed. Toddfather had a couple that were very close in the finals, but never got close enough to matter.

I'm not 100% sure that he was a MLB umpire. That could have been anybody (like a stadium employee) stuck out there in an umpire uniform.

Nobody can beat Stanton.[/

"Down goes Frazier."
