June 16, 201610 yr Surprised there's not a thread on it yet. Starts tomorrow at Oakmont CC. A couple of assumptions... Fox's coverage will be better with Zinger in the booth than it was last year with Norman. I'll still hate the coverage, because of Buck. There'll be some big name pro's post some ridiculously high scores and miss the cut...and I'll be happy. I never mind seeing the best in the world tested. Still some big questions... Can Spieth go back-to-back? If not Spieth, will it be one of the "big" names (Day, Johnson, McIlroy, etc), or will we have a "Cinderella story" winner?
June 17, 201610 yr Good to see Fox still sucks at this..... My picks starting the week were Webb Simpson and Henrik Stenson.
June 17, 201610 yr Just finished walking Oakmont for 10 hours today. Indescribable layout. Hilly, hilly, hilly. Sure television viewing will not do it justice. Course took 1.5 inches of rain yesterday and 1.2 inches overnight, yet it was exceptionally playable. Great course. Awesome Father's Day present.

June 19, 201610 yr It's going to be an interesting afternoon today. A four shot lead in the US Open at Oakmont can go away in a heartbeat, but I think Lowry hangs on. I'll be pulling for D. Johnson and Branden Grace.

June 19, 201610 yr Some of the pin placements for the last round are borderline ridiculous and unfair. Balls hit into one of the greens are going back off the green if they have the least bit of spin. And I've seen a couple putts go off the green and down steep slopes. Crazy. But it's still 100% better than the desert course and dirt greens that they played the US Open on last year.

I think I heard one of the announcers say the greens had been triple cut and rolled prior to the last round. I think they're looking to exact at least a little bit of revenge after dealing with the rain and soft conditions earlier.
June 19, 201610 yr Spent 45 minutes with one of 15 Oakmont Turf Management course supers on #12 green yesterday between 2nd & 3rd rounds. Talked about all the water they had experienced Thurs., what the public hadn't heard that lightning struck a critical control box and the water system came on unexpectantly and that took an extensive time to get turned off. So, they were proud of what they had accomplished, but it would not be up to Open standards until Sunday. For you golfers, they had 150 golf course supers Volunteer, I said Volunteer their services for this week. These volunteers were chosen from over 500 applicants from around the country. No pay, just uniforms, housing, and food to be part of the experience and build resumes. These guys have worked around the clock in shifts to make this course absolutely awesome. Television does not do it justice.
June 19, 201610 yr Author Dustin Johnson is going to get screwed out of this championship. Hogwash decision by the officials and the way it's been handled.
June 19, 201610 yr Author USGA has already damaged this tournament no matter what happens. Only way they save face in this debacle, is if DJ wins it by 3 or 4 strokes. Otherwise, they're idiots.
