June 10, 201610 yr The tournament starts today. What country do guys have winning it? Any dark horses? I have Germany winning it all. A decent chunk of their players play for my favorite club FC Bayern. I also want to see if they can win the Euro after winning a world cup like Spain and France.
June 10, 201610 yr France has trimmed a lot of the fat and left some high-profile players off the team because they were personal and locker-room distractions (Benzema, Ben Arfa, etc). Still have Giroud, Griezmann, Pogba, and an experienced defense. Plus they're playing in front of some home crowds. They're my No. 1 pick to take it. I'll go with Belgium as my second choice. I think they're loaded. Could potentially be set against Germany in a quarterfinal

With Courtois in goal and guys like Naingollan, Carrasco, Fellaini, Witsel, De Bruyne and Hazard in the midfield and options like Lukaku, Batshuayi, and Benteke up top they can be really dangerous. They are oozing talent in the midfield and forward spots, can really throw a lot of different looks out there but definitely can play some attacking football. As you said, France going with more of a youth movement without some of the headache and I'm anxious to see them. Really love Pogba, Matuidi, and Kante, those are three terrific do everything midfielders. Then you have attacking guys like Griezeman, Payet, Martial and Giroud and it just gets down right filthy. Not to mention Coman who really came on for Bayern this year.
June 12, 201610 yr England=Chicago Cubs Just gave that one away yesterday. Dominated the entire match and let one in during stoppage time. Typical English football as of late.
June 12, 201610 yr Germany systematically dismantling the Ukranian defense here in the first half. As good a first 30 mins as I've seen from An international team this summer.
June 12, 201610 yr Author Greatly enjoyed the Croatia vs Turkey match this morning. Highly contested and heated match. I like Mandžukić and Modric.
June 12, 201610 yr Greatly enjoyed the Croatia vs Turkey match this morning. Highly contested and heated match. I like Mandžukić and Modric. Yeah it was a good match from what I watched. And you're right, those two are among the finest in the sport. Lot of talent on that Croation side.
June 13, 201610 yr Only caught the one match yesterday but I've got this IRE/SWE game on my computer at the office. Really nice goal by Wes Hoolahan of Norwich City to put the Irish ahead just minutes into the second half. They already look ten times better than they did in their disastrous Euro appearance four years ago. Apparently supporters on the Emerald Isle have taken to calling him the Irish Messi or "Wessi". :lol2:
June 13, 201610 yr Italy goes over Belgium 2-0. Belgium was my second pick for this tournament and it looks like they might be pulling a France right now and seem happier to float through this thing than actually try and play together. Should still beat Sweden and Ireland but that was disappointing.

June 13, 201610 yr Italy certainly seemed more fired up and passionate. Belgium came undone after that first goal. Even with this less-experienced Italian team, you just never want to be in a position where they get the first goal and you're stuck trying to break down an Italian team prepared to slow play the rest of the game.

I never count out the Italians, especially when they're underdogs. I think internationally Italy and Serie A club wise play the most tactical football. Also, lukaku is a guy that needs space and the Italians aren't the type to give it you.
June 14, 201610 yr I'm really looking forward to seeing Iceland play tomorrow. I know the tournament was opened up this year but it's still pretty impressive that a country of 330,000 (slightly larger than LEXINGTON!) qualified.
