June 6, 201610 yr Oh...my...goodness! I think I'm in the wrong line of work! Some of the best tasting stuff you have put in your mouth. Girlfriend thought the ribs were better than anything she's had in a restaurant, and she might be right. The salmon was a little too spicy/hot for her, I had quite a bit of red pepper flake in it and she has almost no tolerance for heat, but even with that she loved the taste of it. Brought some in to work and people have chowed down on it and commented on how good it is. I hit on a really good salmon rub I came up with myself, kinda of a combo of a couple of different rubs with my own tweaks thrown in. Course ground sea salt Course ground black pepper Red pepper flakes White sugar Brown sugar Onion powder Garlic powder Smoked paprika Dried lemon zest I'm telling you, it is the BOMB!:thumb:
June 6, 201610 yr Author You should have posted some pictures, even though some members hate that lol Might post a pick of the empty plate!:lol2: Actually it would have made a great picture, it was a nice looking dish when I was done with all the spices on it, but I didn't think of doing that. Might do that next time a do it. I would highly suggest though to try the rub recipe I posted above, it's really really good.
June 6, 201610 yr Author And my invite was lost in the mail? Must have been...I was wondering where you were.:idunno:
June 6, 201610 yr Lawnboy must still have it. If @Lawnboy13 keeps this up hes going to have to rent a bigger storage locker for all this stuff.
June 6, 201610 yr Author Electric smoker? Propane. Takes quite a bit of tending too, keeping and eye on the water tray (boils out pretty quickly) wood chips, temp, etc. By the way, I used half/half hickory and apple wood chips.
June 6, 201610 yr I use an electric one but I want a gas one b/c I have a gas line ran outside to my regular grill and would never need propane. Couldn't find a good review on one so went electric. I love mine though and it is very simple.

Someone mentioned in the other thread I posted about starting to smoke that most all gas smokers get mixed reviews, as does the one I have. Some love it, some don't. It works just fine the little I have used it so far, just have to tend to it and keep an eye on it. It's definitely not something you can "set and forget" for a few hours. But it sure does give a good smoke flavor, I tell you that.
June 6, 201610 yr Sounds excellent @BigVMan23, glad your enjoying your new hobby. You mentioned having to tend to the grill a bit and I mentioned in the other thread that you could likely put another water pan on one of your lower grates to help with the water evaporating quickly, but I forgot to mention a company called A-MAZE-N that makes products for electric and gas smokers that allows you to use pellets to smoke with. I've never used one, but have heard great things about them. Apparently you can get smoke for up to 11 hours on one pound of pellets. A-MAZE-N Products, LLC Just figured I would mention it, I don't use one as my smoker is an offset stick burner, so I just use lump charcoal and wood, or just wood. But I've heard great things about the amazen boxes from friends that have electric and gas smokers. Tending to the grill is fun and a great excuse for having some adult beverages in my opinion hah, but one of those smoke boxes could be quite useful on overnight smokes.
June 7, 201610 yr Big Man, I know this won't be your last thread regarding smoked meat so do us a favor and take pictures for us.
