John Hardin 2016

What does John Hardin need to do to improve in 2016? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Harry Doyle gave a great breakdown of what is returning for JH in 2016 in the 4A Preseason top 10 poll. John will be right there in the end. Tons of talent. Speed, athleticism, experience and hopefully hungry. I am tracking the Witherspoon kid will be back this year at QB, so he may struggle a bit early. After he gets comfortable back there, JH should be one of the best teams in 4A.

Did Witherspoon break his foot at Transylvania basketball camp?

John Hardin will be a very.. intriguing team, to say the least. After moving down to 4A and finally bypassing the Bowling Green roadblock, they should be contenders just as they were in 5A. Question is, have they ran into a different roadblock a few miles away in South Warren?

I am a John Hardin follower and Yes they have ran into a different roadblock in South Warren. SW is the real deal and they are playing with more kids than JH. John Hardin will more than likely be 3A in the next classification. SW will be in 5A for sure. Enrollment continues to dwindle and overall numbers in the school are dropping, which means less players. Several kids (military) have moved out of state recently as well that were football players. A new military unit is supposed to be coming to the area but who knows how many kids from that move will play football. I am close to the program and drop in enrollment is going to hurt in the next couple years. I think the football and basketball programs will both have solid years this coming year.

I don't think that unit will bring a lot of people in. Maybe a few players but probably not significant. What are the numbers this year? For football, I was tracking good numbers for the Junior and Senior classes (20+ kids). It is sad seeing a school that a few years ago had 1,200 kids reduced to 900 kids.

I think that both basketball and football will have solid years.. Two quality coaches continue to make an impact on their programs.

Numbers have continued to drop. The new Army unit won't bring in a significant number. That being sad the football and basketball programs should have banner years. Witherspoon won't be the QB, they have a transfer in from out of state...word is he is pretty good. Fits the wing T to perfection. Got another transfer from Jtown I think(lineman). The team is loaded with talent, biggest issue with this team I think is the coach. Very good X and O guy I think; he just has a hard time keeping kids egos in check. A good chemistry year from this team could mean something real special for this group. Most people that follow JH have pointed to this year. They have a deep and talented Senior and Junior class.

Agree with this. Can't wait to see them play BG. Should let JH know where they are. I do think egos will be a problem this year.

Hoss, what do you anticipate from the BG game?

BG will be too much especially since someone said John Hardin is breaking in a new QB. That's not a good combination playing a veteran team like the purples. I would guess 42-7.

I would be surprised if it is 42-7 like Big Saucy said. That being said, I am concerned the Offensive Line may not be able to handle the pressure BG will bring, especially first game of the year. Most people may disagree with me, but I think JH has the athletes to compete with anyone. I can't give a score, but I think BG wins.

BG is just over the top right now. I don't know if we will find out who JH is after that game. That's literally grabbing the tiger by the tail in the first week. They will be competitive though. Hoss is right about the O-line; I don't think they will be able to handle BG up front throughout the course of a game. But John Hardin can match most teams talent for talent.

It's the same almost every year. John Hardin plays a brutal early schedule. They take some lumps early on, but they are ready to play come playoff time. South Warren moves up to 5A next year. When that happens, John Hardin will be in the hunt for a championship every year.
