I want to give a huge thank you to all those who serve in the US military as well as the police and fire protection agencies and to the veterans and retirees of all these services. I also want to recognize those who gave their lives for our country and say a special thank you to their families.

We all benefit from the freedom these folks insure on our behalf. I hope everyone who participates on Bluegrass Preps honors these folks every time the National Anthem rings out. I usually attend games with an Army vet and I notice how this man stands at absolute attention whenever the Star Spangled Banner is heard. I am certain he was taught the stance in basic training in the 1960s. Please show the young people in your lives how to give their attention during this short time before sporting events. It is the least we can do.

Have a safe Memorial weekend. Football is not far away!

Well said thsrocks!

It can never be said too much. Thank you to these brave men and women. My family has several service persons and we lost 2 of them and I tear up during the National Anthem and patriotic songs and the Pledge of Allegiance. Brave souls everyone.

Memorial Day: a time to honor those who lost their lives in the service of their country.

Thank you...and God bless the families who have lost loved ones.

This song always gets me...

Thank you to all the veterans, those with us and those who are not.

This. I hate that my profession has made it so that I've not had a Memorial Day off in about 15 years. Would much rather spend Monday with my Dad (Vietnam) and Brother (Afghanistan/Iraq), as well as my uncle, who was a sailor during Vietnam, and his son, who has 25 years and counting in the Army, and my dad and uncle's late father, who was a combat engineer who served under Gen. Patton in 7th Army in Africa and Italy and 3rd Army in France, Belgium and Germany.

Excellent First Post.
