Augusta 9 St. Patrick 6 (39th District Semifinal)

Featured Replies

Wow! Let me remind I am a seed guy 100%. Think the inexperienced decision makers missed strategically how to accomplish their goal (avoiding the risk of playing traditional district power MC because of a draw). However, the egg on BC's reputation will create deep stains hard to remove. These decision makers missed the fact that Augusta has had neighborhood bragging rights regularly for the past 5-6 years (Panthers have won 16 of last 18 times the rivals have met). Now for the diehards it appeared to be payback time. Suspect BC childishly taking their ball and going home right when it looked like they were about to win a few in the rivalry probably doesn't set well with many alumni or even current players. Their actions appeared to only entrench the draw proponents staunchness, and candidly you probably saved them from surrendering bragging rights for a couple years. Think BC created an unfortunate mess creating clouds over themselves and their poorly aimed strategy would be far better directed toward the KHSAA.

Blah blah blah bragging right don't mean squat in the grand scheme of things. If Augusta wants to keep the rivalry alive vote to seed. Pretty simple. As an alumni Idc if BC/AIS play or not because the regular season to this point means absolutely nothing. Shoot for the cure was the only thing beneficial about the two schools playing and Augusta cancelled that game not Bracken.

Sorry polarbear98, you are obviously "standing so close to the billboard you can't read it." Agree 100% with your seeding position. But, I stand 100% against the childish strategy school officials have so blatantly errored in employing. Now to try to defend with arguments that BC is so superior they will gain nothing by playing is hollow, arrogant, and bombastic. After losing 16 out of 18 basketball games to Augusta, the arguments of such superiority are amusing and (even if true tomorrow) can turn on a dime, or an unexpected transfer.

I would bet competitive alumni, current players and school administration have grown quite uncomfortable and embarrassed with the "take our ball and go home strategy". In fact, rumors have it that the AD has put a lot of important people in undefensable and uncomfortable positions. Hope Coach Hinson and the Bears can bail him out.

BC, regroup and focus your strategy on KHSAA. That is where the seeding debaucle can be put to bed once and for all.

I am probably gonna get bashed, but my stance is like they always say "Just Win" and don't worry about the draw or the seed.

Agreed. It's not like any of these teams in this district are going to do any damage at the Region Tournament.

The problem for the regional tourney is whoever draws Augusta gets a significant advantage. It normally takes 3 good pitchers to get through the regional tourney. Someone is only going to need two in the 10th this year.

^ Speaking of which, where is the 10th being held?

1 of 3 teams

Campbell County (23-10)

GRC (22-11)

Harrison County (21-11)

Never really thought about that. Great point. When is the draw?

Let's not forget that BC only cancelled away games. Not the home games. That's on Augusta and St. Pat.

Yeah there have been some great games last few years. No said otherwise.

@Oldercoach to call me pompous is your opinion that you are entitled to. But what does the rivalry really mean if the games have no meaning. There isn't a cross county trophy to pass back and forth. All is left is bragging rights and what does that do for anyone involved?

Augusta had a great 5-6 year run didn't say otherwise. But that run is over and they will be in a serious rebuilding process in roundball. So if the games have no meaning and are not going to be the competitive type games we have seen lately then why schedule them at all allow each school to put games that will help them in the long run. As for the other sports they really haven't been on the same level in some time.

It's a terrible situation for all involved that I don't see a resolution to in the near future. So BC has made their stand so we will see what happens in time.

As for me personally I support whatever the school thinks is the best approach. It was a bold move that will come with some hate thrown out way but that's fine too.

If Bracken don't to travel to Augusta because they won't vote to seed, why would you blame Augusta for not coming to Brooksville? Face the facts PolarBear 98. You and PolarBear nation don't want to take the chance of drawing the Royal pill. Augusta has never worried about who they play. They take em as they come

very shortly at 10AM at Harrison County

Some teams could save every varsity pitcher on their roster.

Campbell County plays Augusta

I'd say Campbell was probably the favorite going into this. Drawing Augusta in the 1st round only helps that status. Still, I could see any of 5 teams winning this region.
