I don't think anyone was responding to what was actually posted. I think the response was to the "between the lines statements"

 

Nevertheless, all will look forward to the surprise. With Coach Thomas, Rowan County is always expected to be over achievers. They will clearly be a force at tournament time whether they get that tough schedule trophy or not.

Since Wireman didn't mention Russell, I assumed they weren't on the Rowan County schedule. If anyone at Rowan County doesn't believe that Russell is worthy of mention with the others, they will be in for a less than pleasant surprise when they play the Lady Devils.

 

At this stage of the game, I think most observers would put Russell, West Carter, Rose Hill, and Raceland ahead of Rowan in the region with East Carter and maybe even Ashland as their equal.

 

Of course, those other schools won't win that trophy for toughest schedule but, then, I doubt they were aware of its existence.

 

Scooterbob, maybe you can enlighten the rest of us poor souls as to why Russell and West Carter would be ranked ahead of Rowan? Rose Hill does return to D1 prospects....but they also graduated over half their team. West Carter also graduated a lot of talent and the return of the Burchett twins is yet to be realized. Raceland has tremendous upside but time has shown for them that one injury can crush their season. Russell graduated size inside and now will rely on Okoro for just about everything. East Carter lost their starting point guard and all their size inside. Ashland in all reality probably has the best returning group because they have taken their lumps to develop their youth. Elliott Co. was a suprise over the summer and should not be counted out this season. Boyd Co. still has a nice point guard who has two nice post players in Badget and Skaggs to get the ball to. So, to sum it all up, Rowan lost nothing, gained two 6footers, and an atheletic girl who will be a tough match up for anyone to guard...Why would Rowan not be the FAVORITE??? Please by all means let us know...:thumb:

Example given, go back and review the scores of two games, Raceland vs Lawrence Co. at Raceland with Vanderhoof, and then Raceland vs Lawrence Co. without Vanderhoof....I believe you will then realize what I am saying...no disrespect to Raceland....just stating the obvious.:thumb:

Picknroll, you have given a detailed description of how you view the 16th Region. Although I will mention that Rose Hill did not graduate "over half of its team" (somehow having three starters back including two of the top ten players in the state is somewhat encouraging) and although you left out one of the top four players in the region, Jessica Fortman of Russell, it is obvious that you believe that you have everything figured out. Therefore, far be it from me to try to try to enlighten you or to try to burst your bubble. From your analysis, I suppose there is really no need to play out the season what with Rowan being so endowed.

The second Raceland vs LC game was the first game the Lady Rams played without Vanderhoof. The mental adjustment had not been made in such a short time period, but the girls presevered, dug deep and pulled together a terrific team. I don't think LC can be compared to the Lady Rams team that showed up at Districts and at Regionals. JMO

Lost their spirit when Vanderhoof got hurt!!:confused: Any team would be devestated when one of their top players go down with a season ending injury. Vanderhoof was injured early in the season and the lady Rams did make it to the Regional, so how can you say you stated the obvious when in fact they did regroup and had a great season in spite of the injuries?

Raceland certainly had a transition period after losing Vanderhoof. Just as all teams do after losing a major contributor. But P&R what you are missing is the fact that the rest of the team developed and became a stronger unit. Now you add Vanderhoof to that team and it becomes even more solid. And frankly every team in the region will suffer greatly with the loss of a frontline performer. So to say Raceland is an injury away from crushing their season is only stating the obvious. Every team is an injury away from crushing their season. Just depends on how and when it happens whether it determines your fate as far as a region title is concerned. I doubt any team can lose a top 5-7 player and "not miss a beat".

Great post and observations TBF, Ingocnito and cville. Wow since the schedules and or team strengths have obviously already been determined on the bgp keyboard here by a few elite posters I guess that Raceland should just forfiet all their games and give up, uh. How many teams can honestly say if they lose their best player or even a key player and not suffer and have to make adjustments?:confused: . The answer is no one except for maybe some that think that they are much more knowledgable than what theyn really are.:sssh:

Nice post TBF!!! The Lady Rams showed what they were made of. They took a bad situation and turned it into a positive. It just shows that someone is picking straws and has no basis for his observations. The coaches and the Ram players displayed what the word Team is all about. I guarantee that they have one goal (no pun intended) for this upcoming season and they will not be happy without a Championship. They have a great group of kids and the coaching staff is in place so it may be a great year.

Anyone who overlooks Raceland is making a bad mistake. The Lady Rams will be a definite force in the region and I still put them above Rowan County at this time. Of course, injuries and/or imports can change the picture.
