I understand the KY Royals 15U picked up TJ Deere 6'4 PF from CovCath for the State Tourney. That game vs the NKY Force mustve been a doozy. Did anyone play defense? LOL

 

On another note, who is on the NKY Force Roster? I know of Rankin (Ryle) and Wilson (Campbell Co).

 

Lastly, after watching Omega Wildcats (4 Campbell County Camels) play this weekend and knowing Wilson (NKY Force) and Harrod (NKY Royals) are top players they have a very bright future. I could see some of these kids playing a lot of Varsity minutes next season. The Jolly Twins, Lawrence and Helton all play very physical and have High Basketball IQ's.

It isn't only about losing to other in State teams. It is about Media Coverage and level of competition. If shoe teams are competing off Circuit, they need to consistently play teams that are going to challenge them to be better when they come back to the Circuit. Furthermore, National media coverage is of the utmost importance to the 16U/17U age groups when playing outside of the Live Periods. Playing for State pride is Great, but remember, these kids are trying to earn scholarships.... I believe that if State AAU can ensure more National Coverage, then more teams may be prone to attend....

I do think that we can all agree that other than Tay Hollingsworth that Manimal had more "star power" or "names" than Matts Mustangs. Had Matts Mustangs been able to play against HD or the Travelers and still won I also think we can agree that some of the luster to those teams would be lost. One of the reasons the shoe teams are shoe teams is because they have consistently beaten other AAU teams in the state and everyone wants to play for them so they can win and reap the benefits of playing for a shoe team. The day that doesn't happen anymore it becomes a problem for HD and the Travelers. Not only do HD and the Travelers have nothing to gain by playing on the KY State AAU but that is bad business for both of them. They both should definitely be playing in Atlanta and not KY that weekend.

Shout-out to the NKY Force for making it to the title game, where they were way overmatched but still had a good tourney run to make it that far. They beat the NKY Royals and Dontai Allen along the way.
