We disagree. Unless you're saying college is a fantasyland also? That I agree with.

Obviously a college proffesor is a real job. But I think it's fair to say a large number are disconnected from the real world.

 

You could always tell the difference in quality in college of a proffesor who had used his knowledge in the private sector , compared to those who had only known academia.

 

I think it's even more prominent on the graduate level, at least with my experience in business schools. Once someone goes back for a graduate degree after 10-15 years working in the world's of industry in some cases the student understands that industry better than the proffesor who has never experienced it outside of a classroom.

For the record that's why I have a personal problem with recent undergrads being eligible for an MBA. I don't think you can be a Master of Business Adminstration without some decent private sector experience.
