I just briefly exchanged some email with Coach Siple, it is definitely official.

 

When I can share more I will but my post 16 pretty much nails it.

So it is a lack of degree or actual problems with the degree he has? Xavier grad?

The way you make it sound something is wrong with his degrees. He has been teaching forever. And if something is wrong what has taken the. 4 years to figure out at Grant. Wow. He is a great guy

It could be a KY thing. Remember his first teach licenes was from Ohio, and KY and Ohio have different requirements. I wonder if he failed to get something completed in the 5 year window, this would be year 5 in KY right? He was at Bracken Co before Grant.

Yes no kidding. Was thinking the same thing.

So it took KY 5 years to figure this out, sounds about right.

 

Odd though, considering EKU, NKU, UK, UL, WKU and others have Sports Admin Masters programs.

 

Grant lost probably the best coach they have ever had, or will have in some time, that combined with the KHSAA putting them in the district they are in....gonna hurt the program bad.

 

A good administration at a school would help the coach find a way to fix this, even if its just a one year fix........with the Principal and AD out the door..... thats not happening.

Not surprised. This happens more frequently than many know. A Master's degree does not necessarily satisfy the Ky requirement for teachers in the public system.

 

If the State of Kentucky doesn't figure this out, we will continue to get what we get in the public system....so many good people that could be teachers but the State education system disallows....

Agree and very sad for the boys at Grant. Kevin is not only a good coach but great guy.

Typically you are given a certain amount of time to obtain the necessary credentials. With teaching, the specific Master's degree is the key to retention. I would guess that he potentially knew and likely even knew what courses he needed to add to satisfy the Board. It is also likely that obtaining those required taking classes were probably not conducive to a head coach position
