I was in Hilton head last fall. We were going to golf but they called for a rainy day. It was just spitting so we decided to head on out to the Tiki Bar. There was a pro woman's tourney going on. We would not have hung around to watch a tennis match.

I'd say yes. It's expensive.....rackets and stringing that needs to be done regularly and you need a club membership to play at a high level, lesson's with a pro, etc. There are few youth tennis programs, courts are disappearing and falling into disrepair. Few Americans are doing well, especially in the men's game. Little TV and news coverage beyond the 4 major tourneys (one of which is played in Australia which limits coverage here). There are still plenty of high school teams (my youngest son plays) but many are missing spots. It's definitely falling to the fringe.

Take the Williams sisters out of American tennis and what have you got?

I know you're joking (I think), but you'd be surprised at how much those volleyball shorts cost. As the father of a volleyball player, I complained every time I had to spend $30+ on those shorts.

Probably the highest cost per square inch of any sports uniform out there.

At least it's women's beach VB. Might be able to get some gate out of that. I can't imagine people watching guys VB.

Very few situations where I feel more creepy than having to photo VB. Our local schools gather a lot of VB fans for the wrong reasons.
