What I would be interested in knowing is how many staffs have zero males or zero females. I believe Cooper is still all female. I don't know of any all-male off the top of my head.

No disrespect towards Coach Olmstead, nor did I forget her. I was just saying it seems like Brenden Stowers is more the main assistant coach. You listed the SK coaches like he wasn't around, you said, "Asst. head coach is a female and both freshman coaches are female". When in reality two males are basically running the SK girls program.

 

You must not come to many practices. Coach O runs just about every practice.

I've never stuck around and watched practice. Again, Coach Olmstead is clearly a part of the coaching staff. IMO I just think Brenden has a stronger role and influence on the program. I certainly could be wrong, just my opinion from the peanut gallery view

Curious as to what you see or hear that leads you to think Brenden has a stronger role and influence on the program in comparison to Coach Olmsteads role that gives you your{ IMO}? How do you see her role and influence on this staff??

This seems kind of petty, if I offended you I apologize. Brenden coaches the JV so he is having direct contact with every girl not starting, I know he does individual training with key varsity players, he seems more engaged in direct coaching with the girls also and most importantly he is Stowers son!

 

However, once again this is just an off the cuff opinion based on observations from a distance. You seem to have a much closer view of things, so if you think Olmstead is more the 2nd person to Stowers then it's probably true.

No not petty at all just wanted to know your reasoning behind your statement. I certainly didn't mention Brenden because I responded to another comment from a poster " All the coaches at Sk were men!!" ( that poster probable thought they were on the Boys forum. ) I simple pointed out who the female coaches were.

That said ,I respect your point of view but I don't see the validity of his son as relevant. Jeff Stowers has been there a long time and Olmstead has been with him the last six seasons. She began as the JV Head coach then became the Assistant Varsity Coach in the second year. If my memory serves me correctly I have seen Olmstead coach all three teams every year she has been at Jeff Stowers side so the relavance of input being more influncial I find interesting. How does one who coaches all three teams (even from the stands) and is criticized from others in the past few years relivance and input be questioned or unrealized.

No I don't have any more information than you or others I just watch this team and program do some amazing things year in and year out. Jeff Stowers is a master at gathering really sound basketball minded individuals together and blend all of their strengths into a seamless team.No discredit to Brenden either.

In the 5th Region, there's 13 male coaches and 5 female. That's as of this past season but I don't know if there have been any openings.

Coach Stowers is very secure in his own skin and is not afraid to delegate major coaching functions to the rest of the staff. I'm surprised he does not have a "Coaching Tree" of former assistants as Head Coaches in NKy (Other than Coach Wendelin of coarse).

 

Coach Brendan is being groomed to coach at the next level, whereas Coach O has already been there and done that. Coach O is still the Pioneers all time leading scorer, although Ally Neace will break that record, She bleeds SK blue. She has an analytical, reserved demeanour that I believe some mistake for disengagement.

 

Coach O brought to SK a system of offence that depends upon reading the defence and executing options based upon those reads. This offence goes well beyond penetrate and kick offences usually encountered in HS offence. All levels are coached simultaneously so the incoming freshman are challenged by upperclassmen immediately.

Allow me to correct myself...fat fingers.. she is not the all time leading scorer but still holds one record for most rebounds in a game (31) and shares the single game scoring record (41pts.) with S. Wainscott a recent graduate from TMC. That record to still be standing after almost 40 years is something!!!! Also Coach B has coached at the College level and has been very successful!!
