WFPK is killing it.

Those outside of Louisville can stream at wfpk.org. They just played the entire Superbowl Medley

3:25 mark...

That's probably the 50th time I've watched that performance. It's a fantastically beautiful song to begin with and then Prince comes out for that solo and is absolutely riveting. I don't think I blinked the first time I watched.

Bowie, Prince, Haggard, Maurice White, Paul Kantner, Glenn Frey.... any other big music names already gone this year?

Lemmy passed a few days before 2016 and George Martin passed a last month. Seriously, this list includes some of the objectively coolest people in the world.

Just listened to "Do Me, Baby."

I need a cigarette.

Prince was found in an elevator at his home. Not breathing. CPR was tried. Pronounced dead at 10:07.

I was lucky enough to see Prince 4 different times each time he out did himself. My wife and I was in Miami one time and Prince showed up at this local night club and performed which was the best experience I have ever had. The club didn't eve know he was showing up. He played for 2 hours and by far was best I ever seen. Tough loss today.

One of my favorite Prince tunes.

My boy Schue is undoubtedly deeply saddened by this...

Just sick about it. I thought he'd be around forever.

Housequake...

After hearing "Starfish and Coffee" on WFPK while in the car earlier, I knew that "Sign Of The Times" would be first up when I got home. Might go after some "Controversy" or "Dirty Mind" after this.

Brandon Phillips has "Purple Rain" as his walk up tonite.

Early speculation is complications from AIDS. I'm not going to lie. The first thing I thought of was Eazy E with someone being hospitalized and dying so quickly.

The talk going around is that he contracted HIV in the 90's and kept it under control by diligently taking his meds. He then became a Jehovah's Witness in the early 2000's. As he became more and more entrenched in the religion, he became convinced that God had cured him, and he stopped taking his meds a couple years ago, and went downhill fast. When he finally began seeking treatment earlier this year, he had progressed to full blown AIDS, and there was nothing that could be done.

The website Blindgossip.com had just posted last week that a very famous and popular African American celebrity had AIDS and was in very bad shape and would likely be dying soon. Their description fit Prince perfectly.

I graduated from high school in 1988. Prince is a big part of the soundtrack of my life. Lot of dancing to Prince to songs at school dances.
