April 6, 201610 yr Prediction #2: Both Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will attempt, and fail, to become the party nominee. By the current rules in place, I do not believe either qualify to be the nominee. It has to be one of the three running, which my guess is that they are holding out hope that Kasich can win on the second or third ballot, that is as long as the other two are not real close to the 1237 number going in.

April 6, 201610 yr If a nominee is "anointed" there will be riots, and I may be a participant! Over 100 million dollars has been spent on Trump character assignation ads. The media coverage on the Wisconsin primary was overwhelming. 60% of GOP primary voters support a "path to citizenship" for illegal aliens. Trump is not going to win a state that takes that position. Nobody in the media though cares to point out that Trump has double digit leads in NY, Cal, PA and MD. Yeah, Trump is a flawed candidate, but it is very obvious he threatens many powerful interests which are interests of the 1%. Cruz is the establishment lap dog that will be kicked to curb at the convention. I would say the environment is caustic enough for an attempted political assignation(Trump win or lose).

April 6, 201610 yr If the R establishment succeeds in nominating anybody except Trump or Cruz, this R will immediately become an Independent. Even if Kasich does better in polls against Hillary than Cruz or Trump, it does not matter because the backlash against him will be so bad by the Cruz and Trump supporters, he would get crushed (and I actually like Kasich). Voters do not like being told their votes were meaningless and that the party bosses had this decided all along... I also think these polls about who would beat who in November are waaaayyyyy overrated since we are in April. Not one poll had Trump where he is now 5 months ago and not one had Bernie Sanders being on HRC's heels now. She was about 50 points ahead of him in NY a couple of months ago and is now up 10. Heck, we don't even know who the nominee will be from either party and have not had one debate and people actually believe a poll five months out that says this guy will do better than that guy against him or her? Not buying it. Reagan was down against Carter a month before the election in polls and then beat him easily...
April 6, 201610 yr We have about 2.5 million people incarcerated in this country and this number is exploding. Almost half are African American. Many are illegals. FYI - Incarceration costs about $40,000 per year per inmate. Folks, we need to get people out of prison and into jobs and a status quo candidate IS NOT GOING to make that happen! The fist step is to make jobs available that pay a wage you can raise a family on and provide a mechanism for the needed education to occur. Several states are already providing free juco education for their residents. Free trade needs to get rolled back. EHS regulation needs to get rolled back. Borders need to be closed. We need to get people out of prison and productive in the economy.

Which I think is what Bipsic is getting at: His credibility with the Tea Party comes from the rather extreme nature of his economic proposals, which would likely not be a great selling point to moderates and independents. Extreme economics ?

When looking for parallels, its the 1912 situation with the Bull Moose Party that is probably the close. Both involve confident, boisterous New Yorkers who do not mind mixing it up. I doubt many will equivocate Trump with Roosevelt though :lol2:
