That is what I was thinking, and why Bath over Russell?

I thought I read somewhere that Bart had younger son ? If so, Bath has a solid 9th grade team and that might have been part of the draw.

Bath has a nice window to get to the region. This district after Rowan is very average to below average.

Bath has a very good team of freshmen and a good incoming freshman team next season. Coach Williams' sons I believe are 8th grade and 10th grade and they will fit right in with those players and have a chance to be really good for a few years. The 16th region is graduating a lot of really good players this year and will be wide open.

Bart has two son's. Bryce will be a Junior and provide an immediate impact just as he did as a Sophomore this season with Pikeville. Brooks will be a freshman and should fit in nicely with the young talent.

If you didnt know, Bart played at Johnson Central in High School and is in the Hall of Fame (1,000 point club) there and is the All time leading scorer at UPike and in the Hall of Fame there as well.

Bart's father, Paul, won the first regional title at Johnson Central in 1972 and was the first Head Coach in school history.

Just a bit of the history you get with the William's family. Your going to love them in Bath County as they are great and bring a wealth of basketball knowledge with them.

Solid hire for Bath County in my opinion. Not sure if the timing was right with Pike Central just officially coming open yesterday if he would have been interested to make that jump over there to be able to stay in Pikeville, but that is neither here not there now.

I do believe from a very reliable source that he also has family in the area around Bath County, that may have also helped somewhat.

Congrats to Coach Williams, from what I've seen of him he's a pretty good basketball coach.

Interesting quote from Williams on how he left Pikeville:

"I'm trying to be all positive and take the high road, but I was a little disappointed in some people here. Pikeville High School always strives to do everything first-class, and I was really disappointed that they didn't handle it in a first-class manner. But you know what, it kinda recharged my batteries when I got out looking at other opportunities. I get really excited about that."
