I think that teams should not start to play until March 24th also.

Season shouldn't start until the Monday after the last state basketball championship. It isn't the same thread, but I'd argue baseball/softball starting before or during the state basketball tournament hasn't helped the casual attendance either.

The game's shouldn't start later because of the state tournament, but because of the unpredictable weather. And as stated above. The fact of going from the gym to the field.

Not only should they NOT add more games, they should put limitations on the length of sub-varsity games. Either 5 innings or a time limit for them. 3 hours for a 7 inning freshman game is ludicrous. Why is baseball the only team sport that has sub-varsity contests the same as varsity.

Sub Varsity kids dont deserve to play too?

Not in wky, we have a 5 inning limit on JV and F games.

I could buy into 6 inning games, especially at the freshman level.

Never said they didn't.

I think it can be both. Games shouldn't start until after the state tournament so kids who participate in both sports wouldn't miss games either way. And as you said, an added benefit of starting later is getting better weather for the outdoor spring sports.

First practice should be March 1st. First game in last week of March. I think 36 games is too many. Many states play less than 30 regular season games, so I'd say 36 games is plenty. Cutting to 30 games allows the playoffs to get wrapped up at a reasonable time in early June, allowing for a full summer ball season. What would be the reason for needing 40+games....the regular season games really don't mean much anyway, since everyone makes the district tourney.

This. Scheduling games the first week or two is useless when 95% of them get canceled.

Never seen a Middle School, Freshman, or JV game that wasn't 5 innings.
