He was right.

I agree with you, he is right. But you can't embarrass your AD and league commish in public like he did. He should have privately ranted about this. The Valpo coach is upset by the league tournament and wants the reg. season champion to get the AQ, but he is saying it behind the scenes. If Donlon were Coach Cal, he could rant like that and get away with it. He is not Coach Cal.

I called this last week in another thread here. He was booted because of his rants during the Horizon League tourney as much as his coaching.

He was also told he needed to make the Big Dance this season.

Not according to the WSU president and AD. Has nothing to do with making the NCAA. It's all about last week and Donlon's behavior that embarrassed the entire Horizon League. If his record had been sparkling, then they might have tolerated his public rants. But even three 20-win seasons don't erase his rants about a league that might also be losing Valpo and Detroit in the near future. They need stability and everyone on board publicly. Instead they have four or five schools that want to give the AQ to the reg. season winner, and the other half want to award it to the conference tourney winner. If Missouri Valley Conference extends invitation to Valpo and Detroit, both will be gone.

He was telling people before the season that he was told it was make or break.
