Advances in technology like Caller ID Spoofing really embolden some tech savvy criminals.

I get these calls a lot of times the Caller ID shows they are coming from my own number.

I enjoy making a game out of it with these jack-balls.

I'm sorry, but if you fall for that jury duty scam, either you had a serious lapse in judgement or just aren't very smart. From how it's been described here, I could tell that was a scam about 20 seconds into the call.

I can't believe people fall for this kind of crap.

Me too, I love it. I constantly think of ways to mess with them when they call. I think next time I'm going to tell them I am a lawyer for a Rich Nigerian Prince and if THEY want to send ME some money I'll gladly spend it.

I've found on any call, telemarketer or otherwise, they tend to hang up if you use the F word

The Boone County Sheriff's Department posted this today on Facebook:

 

The Sheriff's Office is still receiving complaints in regards to citizens receiving phone calls from individuals stating that they are Deputies from either the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, or another law enforcement agency. The caller tells the unsuspecting people that they have an outstanding warrant for various charges. In order for “the victims” to take care of the warrant, they are instructed to make payment either by prepaid card or by wiring the money via Western Union...etc. Please be aware that this is a scam. It is not the practice of the Boone County Sheriff’s Office to solicit any payment for any type of business over the telephone.

Are most of these scam calls actually from outside the USA? With today's technology criminals can make a call appear to be coming from the police headquarters or an IRA office. If so that's probably why the scammer said, "One monkey cannot stop the show and we will continue to make millions of dollars per day."

They have no fear of being caught or arrested.
