I'd say: "While I don't agree with XXXXX's beliefs or thoughts on certain issues that have made them a controversial figure, I appreciate their support. In no way, shape or form do I align myself with their beliefs. I understand that perhaps they've found that I support some fundamental values that they also believe in, but that does not mean we are like minded about issues that make XXXXXX popular/controversial. I will NOT be accepting campaign contributions from XXXXX because I DO NOT support all of their values that are so widely and controversially known, which is why we're having this conversation." On a side note, we haven't gotten there yet, but you can bet BLM will be a talking point come election time, for both sides.

By Monday morning, Trump had reversed himself again, disavowing Duke's support and saying on NBC's "Today" that he couldn't understand Tapper's question due to a faulty earpiece. Nonetheless, the episode provided further evidence that racism is a factor in Trump's success so far in the GOP presidential primary. If not knowing something about a question you're unfamiliar with makes you a racist then this country is full of them. I'm saying all of this as someone that hates that our two leading candidates on both sides are who they are, but this is just dumb.

Researchers say these views indicate authoritarianism. Really? I like word play, it's fun. I can't be mad, if you're dumb enough to read this an believe it, then that's just another thing on the long list of problems this country needs to address right now.

I disagree with many on here, but I don't dislike them, emoticon qualifier or not. As I've said for years, the party of so called tolerance seem to be the most intolerant.
March 1, 201610 yr Trump kept saying "I don't know the guy so how can I denounce him." I get that. I respect that. The interviewer said "Well what about racist groups like the KKK?" I don't get why Trump did not denounce the KKK without denouncing Duke. It seems to be the most logical response to the media since they are constantly trying to use trick questions (although I don't really see what was tricky about denouncing the KKK...).

However, he's smart enough to realize that those who are KKK members or at least have racial leanings probably overwhelmingly support his candidacy. He denounces them, he loses their support. Look at the other thread in this forum complaining about Paul Ryan's denunciation of bigotry because Clinton hasn't denounced Beyoncé or BLM (as though this is an "equal and opposite" comparison). Or look at the revulsion with which some conservatives (Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham) seized on a similar statement by Romney yesterday, complaining that it "sounded like something Obama would say." These are troubling times.
