You did catch the byline, didn't you?

Yeah, I caught it. Take a look at post #16; it may clear up your confusion.

Nice, and it was written by a St. X grad too, but still this rivaly is just a little over half as old as the Mayfield/Tilghman rivalry. It may draw more fans, but that is a given since Louisville is 10 times bigger than Paducah.

Centre/ Sewanee is a very old rivalry as well, but it doesn't stack up to Miami/Florida St et al.

In your eyes, yes, but what defines "the best rivalry in the state"?

Attendance is largest annual in nation, number of state titles between both schools is 29,intensity level, history, national publicity, tailgating is unmatched at high school level, 2 natural rivals, college stadium venue, media coverage, pride week activities all around town including business and grade schools, rivailry week coaches luncheons, radio talk show appearances by both coaches on WHAS 840, class reunions at the game, and on and on!Did I mention this game has been on national TV several times on ESPN & Fox Sports and as mentioned above national newspaper coverage by USA Today. In my humble opinion this game is tops in KY!It has all of the ingredients and then some, I mean people plan their weddings around this game, some people have their rehearsal dinners tailgating at this game!

Top 10 Rivalries

Chill mom. I just pointed out the man had an iron in the fire. I said I thought it was the biggest in KY. Touchy, aren't we?

That pretty much sums up the Mayfield/Paducah rivalry, minus the state titles, but that doesn't matter when we are talking about the regular season does it? We have more history than the X/T rivalry, more interesting stories, we have 5 or 6 randomly selected students to ride bicycles about 40 miles each way to get the game ball and bring it back in time for the pep rally. Bon fires, car bashings, percentage wise, I would wager our attendance is higher than this one over the years. We have about 95 years worth of controversial games between the 2 teams

This thread is about the second best rivaly in the state not what is the best!

This thread started with the assumption that T/X was the biggest rivalry in the state, I am just debating that argument with my own opinion.

Then start your own thread about it.

No...I stated in an earlier post that I was researching the claims of the T/X faithful, and that's what I did. Your post was relevant to that endeavor and so I quoted it to answer the questions in the thread, simply posting sites that were not in any way affiliated with T or X.

Believe me, I'm chill. :D I'm fully confident in the status of the T/X rivalry, and where it ranks. :D

I think the "biggest rivalry" is totally subjective. There are many big rivalries in the state, and they are each played out with equal amounts of passion on behalf of the faithful. In this case, size does not matter. Trinity/X is a big rivalry, and (measured in attendance) is the biggest in the state. But it's no more important to those involved than any other big rivalry.

I guess I'm confused about the topic of this thread.

The poster who started the thread posted that Trinity and X was the biggest, so which would be considered the second biggest. I was working of that premise.

If we're talking about importance to schools, then I feel that's completely subjective, and there's simply no way to measure it. No matter what I would post about T/X, or you about H/B, we're each going to think our rivalry is the most important, because of our associations with our schools.

So, now, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be answering...

I'll go back to Male/Manaul! It seems to be the safe answer! :D

I don't know what H/B means, but I think this was the exact same point I was trying to make. And my post wasn't aimed at you anyway -- at least it wasn't meant to be. I was just saying that it's hard to say what the biggest rivalry is -- or for that matter, the second biggest!

I know you didn't mean to me....but I really am confused now!

I actually didn't think it was hard until everyone started interpreting the topic differently. :D

If you have to look it up...it qualifies as research! :thumb:
