Boyle County 77 Danville 58 (45th District Semifinals)

Featured Replies

Danville had a terrible game. They couldn't ever figure out Boyle's zone defense and when they did, they couldn't contend with Elkins.

This one could have been a 30 point win. Danville finished the game on an 8 or 10-0 run.

And I wonder if McKinney will be the coach with his son graduating. I hope he remains since coaching turnover has plagued the Danville program for a long time.

I hope so too. McKinney does a really good job and Danville is a program that can go up or down based on who is on the bench.

I had plans to ask him that during the 45th District Tournament Postgame Show on WPBK-FM, 102.9 on your dial, but we weren't able to contact him for a postgame interview. Understandable considering the circumstances. I'd love to know if all of the speculation about him returning is right or wrong.

Worst defensive team Ed Mckinney has ever had while coaching at Danville. Back when Ed coached in the early 2000s those teams could defend which led to a lot of steals and easy baskets. I can remember watching Trumbow and Jeremy Vaught give guards fits and have a bunch of steals every game. If u scored more than 60 on Danville back then you had a great team. I just think the kids now dont believe in defense, and thats always been Ed's bread and butter. If he does come back next year he needs to bring out some old tape of the 99-2001 teams, and tell them to watch Trumbow and Vaught on how to defend!

My fault. They had 18 turnovers. I guess it is better said that they didn't have turnovers at bad times. :lol2:

Not that there is a good time for a turnover.

5 of these turnovers came after Boyle put in the JV.

Boyle shot the ball really well 53% to Dan. 49. Danville's % was skew because the subs at the end of the game didn't miss.
It says Danville was 24-59 from field. thats 40 percent instead of 49

I don't have the paper with me but you could be right. I was putting all of it in on my Iphone and could be a fat finger error.

Wow! Didn't know it had been 5 years since region for Danville. Hope McKinney stays around as coach too. Don't know if it would be couple down years though, got some good young talent and others are losing players too. If McKinney goes maybe Matt Yates will come back, heard he still lives in Danville. Or even the girls coach may take the boys.

I think this pic of Colton in from the Advocate Messenger website epitomizes just how athletic he is. I know he didn't have as many blocks as usual, but notice how much his presence alters player attempting to attack the basket

I know Trumbow but don't recall Vaught?
