I didn't go look it up but if memory serves me right:

Regionals at Mason Co brought in an average of $40,000-42,000

Regionals at Montgomery County brought in an average of $26,000-$28,000

 

Even the 1 year Region was held at NKU, they brought in $40,000ish

Here's the money breakdown that was split between the schools:

 

2015- no report

2014- $42,276 (Mason)

2013- $26,106 (Mason)

2012- $21,109 (MoCo)

2011- $42,108 (Mason)

I've been following the 10th region for a few years now. I don't claim to know all the history and tradition like some people do. I have some friends who I turn to when I need answers in that department. With that being said, I have been able to make one conclusion that I stand firm on when it comes to the tenth. Every tenth region tournament game should start with "Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to The Fieldhouse." On top of the tradition it holds, it is bigger, IMO more comfortable, and I don't have to drive like Earnhardt going three wide at Daytona to get there on time. Move it to Maysville and be done with it.

But it still gives mason a home court advantage. Plus the people in Montgomery county and/or Clark have to drive like a maniac to get to the Fieldhouse just as you stated having to do to get to Montgomery Co.

Of the 7 years compared, the Montgomery site has produced the two lowest distributions, and Mason Co. has generated the three highest by a substantial margin. NKU had an entirely different arrangement with the 10th Region than the 9th does which made for a mid-level distribution of the seven years. Travel costs are adjusted for each school prior to individual school distributions being calculated.

BTW...Montgomery County played 4 games at the Fieldhouse this year with a 3 - 1 overall record including the Mike Murphy Classic Championship vs Mason County. So I don't think the home court advantage is something that they couldn't have overcome...especially with as large of a crowd that Montgomery would probably bring for a Region game.

I understand your point and mostly agree with you. But there still an advantage to playing on your home floor.

2008 MaCo beat MoCo for 10th region title

2009 MaCo beat GRC for 10th region title

2010 MaCo beat GRC for 10th region title

2011 MaCo lost to Pendleton in Semis - GRC won 10th region title

2012 MaCo lost to GRC in finals - GRC won 10th region title

2013 MaCo DNP - Lost to Augusta in District - MoCo won 10th region title

2014 MaCo DNP - Lost to Augusta in District - CC won 10th region title

2015 MaCo lost 1st round to Harrison Co. - CC won 10th region title

 

So MaCo won it 3 years in a row from 2008-2010 but in 3 different venues. Only Fieldhouse in 2010. And 2 of the highest grossing tournaments (2011 and 2014) were without MaCo being in Finals.
