Buzz is Belfry may be close to signing a Single Year Contract to play Rhea County, TN in Week 0

 

Belfry has been desperately trying to find a 10th game since Sheldon Clark dropped out of District Play and basically blew up their existing schedule.

 

Rhea County is a solid program located between Knoxville and Chattanooga. The Golden Eagles have reached the 5A Semi-Finals the past two years and are expected to be one of the top contenders again this year.

 

If this becomes official, here is how Belfry's 2016 schedule would look:

Belfry typically doesn't play in Week 0, but you have to do what you can to get a full schedule. Are Belfry and Rhea County negotiating the location? Could it possibly be part of a bowl somewhere in between?

I'm sure they will scrimmage hazard like they have since 2008.

Havent heard or seen anything definitive one way or another.

 

Belfry desperately needs a game and the spot where Sheldon Clark dropped them is essentially useless for finding someone since everyone in KY is playing their District games at that time.

 

To compound things scrimmages aren't really even much of an option as most teams have paired up and completed schedules.

 

Belfry only has 3 home games since SC was supposed to be their 4th Home Game. I know Belfry desperately wants a home game but in this case I think playing a substantial opponent outweighs anything instead of being short changed a scrimmage or game completely.

 

For stat nerds like myself, this scheduling change may also present something new to keep an eye on.

Maxpreps uses the Calpreps formula for their ranking and Belfry's 52-6 win over Sheldon Clark was viewed as Belfry's worst performance of the year because Sheldon Clark was so lowly rated by the CPU's.

 

By replacing Sheldon Clark with Rhea County (who finished ranked in the Top 800 teams in the country) Belfry's SOS increases significantly and their probability for a higher National Ranking increases substantially if they were to win the game.

@ATLCat, am I reading this wrong? It appears there are already four home games on the schedule: Tates Creek, Harlan County, Cabell Midland, and Pike Central.

Tate's Creek is the PCB.

Your right they scrimmaged Whitley County last year. I've been so use to hazard and belfry scrimmaging over the years I forgot.

As long as they don't listen to the same ones who suggested Cabell Midland last season. That didn't work out to well.

Warrens vile Heights is a Cleveland suburb. That is a tough drive on a Friday night.
