February 10, 201610 yr Fix the Tax Code...remove loopholes and remove tax laws that incentivize moving infrastructure and investments off shore. Work to eliminate fraud and waste in all areas of Government.
February 10, 201610 yr We need to do same for the millionaire CEOs. If you want corporate welfare, then you have to spend X hours a month volunteering at a homeless shelter. Then let's have the one you Leftie's trot out all the time be the first. Let's get Warren Buffet to start the trend. You really miss the boat every time on this subject.
February 10, 201610 yr Here is what some corporate welfare looks like... -100 acres of farm land is generating a couple of thousand dollars a year in property taxes. Big Ugly Corporation (BUC) is looking to build a new facility that will provide 400 jobs and increase value of property in the area. Local State/County Government give BUC a 10 year moratorium on Property Taxes saving them a few million dollars over the 10 years as their new facility would be worth much more than the farm land. BUC uses those savings to help build new facility and the local government is only out the taxes from the farm land. After 10 year facility begins paying taxes based on value of facility which is many times more than the old farm land. All money that lost is recouped in first year. -BUC is looking to expand a facility but need more skilled workers. Looking to move to another state where workers in similar field are available. State offers assistance to train local populous at $20,000 per employee. Company agrees, saves money from not having to relocate and local community retains current jobs and adds new jobs. Cost state $2,000,000 but retains jobs in community which helps local economy. -BUC is looking to build a new destination shopping center (Simpsonville type) State and Local Government spends $4,000,000 on local highway infrastructure. County and State receive increased property, sales and income taxes from new business. Just a few examples of "Corporate Welfare"
February 10, 201610 yr Sounds like you're a supporter of corporate inversion. Food-stamp fraud is nickel-and-dime compared to what the behometh corporations are doing to rip off the government. How much do you "rip-off" from the government every year by using legal means to reduce your tax liability?

Just a few examples of "Corporate Welfare" Send me a telegram when Rupert Murdoch's corporation, the one that owns Fox News, actually pays some tax to Uncle Sam, instead of zero. Oh, wait, I forgot. Billion-dollar corporations are actually "victims." Never mind.
February 10, 201610 yr How much do you "rip-off" from the government every year by using legal means to reduce your tax liability? Zero.
February 10, 201610 yr Zero. You take no deductions, you claim no credits, you do nothing to reduce your tax liability?
February 10, 201610 yr You take no deductions, you claim no credits, you do nothing to reduce your tax liability? Nope. My 1040 has gotten a lot simpler over the years as I've become debt-free. Unlike Murdoch's News Corp, all the corporations that have set up postal boxes in Bermuda, all the companies that have embraced corporate inversion, I willingly pay my "fair share" in order to defend this country from terrorism.
February 10, 201610 yr Send me a telegram when Rupert Murdoch's corporation, the one that owns Fox News, actually pays some tax to Uncle Sam, instead of zero. Oh, wait, I forgot. Billion-dollar corporations are actually "victims." Never mind. SPIN SPIN SPIN that's all you do. When will you start adding something constructive to the discussion instead of the constant pivot and spin. Quote the laws that need to be changed to close Murdoch's loopholes and we'll discuss them. I have no problem forcing everyone that owes taxes to pay them. If he or anyone isn't paying because of how the law is written that's on US not them. I have a bigger problem with those that legally owe taxes and refuse to pay them.
February 10, 201610 yr Nope. If that's true, and I have my doubts that you do nothing to reduce your tax liability, then I give you kudos for walking the walk. I'm also wondering how many deductions you may have taken in the past. Your next step would be opening your home to a few refugees and illegals.

It's easy to say I don't take deductions when you don't have any.
February 10, 201610 yr You also can't describe something as welfare when you allow them to keep more of their own money. The money is not the governments, the government has no money. Only the money we as the people aloof them to have. Where do you get this stupid notion that the government has no money? You are taxed because you live in a representative democracy. That means elected representatives of the government decide how to spend the money in the "federal withholding" box on your weekly paycheck.
February 10, 201610 yr Federal taxes on corporations has run a fairly steady 13%+/- the last 3 years of overall on-budget (taking out social security) Federal reciepts. At times its been as high as 20% (2008) and at times its been as low as around 10%. Double the receipts from corporations - it will not fix the hole beind dug by the (on-budget) Medicaid/ACA system. The 'free rider' at the Federal level is Medicaid/ACA. It is taking a bigger and bigger chunck and percentage of the on-budget funds. Every other Federal function is taking substancial reductions to pay for this issue - not just the military. Department of Education, Department of Justice, Department of the Interior (wonder why the BLM has to essentially steal land from people?), etc. No discussion of deficiets or federal spending is valid without acknowledging the elephant in the room.
February 10, 201610 yr Where do you get this stupid notion that the government has no money? You are taxed because you live in a representative democracy. That means elected representatives of the government decide how to spend the money in the "federal withholding" box on your weekly paycheck. You just made my point. The government doesn't have money or earn money. They tax and us citizens for money. It isn't welfare for an individual or a corporation to keep more of their money. If they cut the income tax and I get to keep more of my own earned income that isn't welfare. If I file a dedeuctions on my tax form that isn't welfare. Welfare is giving money to someone they didn't earn or create on their own. Please continue with your talking points and I'll continue to correct you.
